RF Interference in audio (music)

When listening to music, either on device or streamed, I occasionally hear a noise which sounds kind of like a cricket but reminds me of the interference I could hear on speakerphones from AT&T phones when initiating a call. This sound can be heard at varying intervals. Sometimes every few seconds. I have not heard this noise when I toggled airplane mode. I am hearing this while at work which has a very weak signal so the phone is probably broadcasting at about full power which might explain it. It might also explain why the interference is more noticeable at some times.

Has anyone else heard this? Am I doomed to listening to crickets at work?

Thanks.

Are you charging your phone through your computer via USB while listening to the music? I get interference all the time on Spotify and Slacker when I'm plugged into the computer. Unplug, and the interference goes away.

I've been charging but not via USB. I'm not sure if I've been charging every time I've heard it. I will try disconnecting when I hear it. Thanks for the tip.
