Ringer volume defaults to silent on restart = head/wall interfacing

This is probably such a dumb question that I should probably be exiled to Yahoo Answers, but...

I have a Nexus 5 running 5.0.1 and the issue is that every time I switch my phone on the ringer volume is off, as in silent.

I usually forget to turn it back up until lunchtime by which time I've usually missed a couple of calls.

For the life of me I can't find where to set the default ringer volume. I've played with Settings>Sound&Notification until I'm blue in the face. Ring volume is on full. Power off and on again and it's back to 0.

Help!

Welcome to Android Central! To clarify--it's reverting to silent when you put the phone to sleep, not power off completely, right?

It shouldn't keep doing that. Try booting into Safe Mode to see if it's due to some 3rd party app: https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/2852139?hl=en

If that doesn't help, then try a cache partition wipe: http://forums.androidcentral.com/nexus-5-rooting-roms-hacks/352008-guide-nexus-5-recovery.html

Haha! Thanks so much for your reply. What I figured out is that ages ago I'd signed up for the IFTTT recipe which muted my ringtone when I got home! So it was my own stupidity!
