So I've noticed that when changing the system ringtone, it will only save for a few hr's then it just changes itself back to vzw ringtone. Same for default notification sound. Message notifications and calender notifications will stay to what I change them to. Anyone else? Am I not doing something? Contact ringtone changes all stay the same from what I've noticed too.

Are the custom tone files saved in the /Ringtones directory on Internal Storage or the SD card? Make sure they're in Internal Storage.

Ok. just moved/copied them all over to internal ringtone/notification folders...Thank you! never had to on previous Samsung phones. Weird how it would work for half the day then stop. Had it in -media-audio-ringtones or notifications on sd card. oh well, hope this does it. Thank you again!

Still not saving. Tried changing to system ringtones and still won't keep.

This sounds vaguely familiar -- I recall reading something like this on previous Samsung phones on Verizon. Let me do some digging.

I had the same problem with a Zedge ringtone I had set.. My phone was putting the Zedge app to sleep so I channged the battery setting for that app to unmonitored... Don't know if that makes any sense or helps

In the 2nd link, smooth4lyfe mentions changing settings in audio manager pro to fix it. I also use audio manager pro...I replied to him in that thread in hopes he'll respond. Have any guess as to what setting he may have changed? I'm looking and don't see anything off the bat just yet

Ok, so within Audio Manager Pro(amp from now on) when you're setting how loud you want each tone to be-on the ringtone, notification and alarm there is a drop down that allows you to change the ringtone for each profile you're creating. I have noticed this before but have never 'had' to change it in the past and didn't even think of it with this issue. I use a 3rd party sms too and usually change my default sms(along with individuals tones) within that app just as I'm doing with this phone. I've been doing things the same way since Galaxy S, so not sure why different now, but hopefully things keep this time. Thank you so much B. Diddy for all your help/research!

Not to sound like a know it all but I've notice sometimes these phones become touchy and need basic conversion with the file. I don't know. I'm gonna follow this thread as I use custom ringtones for everything in my phone. I set mine last night and will watch them. So far, nothing has reverted back. I have only used Ringdroid religiously for probably a good 7 or 8 years. I've used this to cut the ringtone myself and also used it to save the ringtones in my phone for the specific internal areas like notifications, main ringer, e-mail, text etc. It's an old program and hasn't been updated in almost a year but it's never failed me. I just thought I would share my experience as I'm not using third party programs like audio manger pro and maybe back up a step could be a key for setting the ringtones up first. Then you could reinstall the audio manager pro or any other programs on top. I am on Verizon with the Note 8 as well.

So it seems that Audio Manager Pro overrides the the default ringtone settings. So in Audio Manager Pro, change the ringtone to what you want it to be, and it should sound. Note if you change to another profile (Low, Mute, Loud, etc.) in Audio Manager Pro, and that profile has a different ringtone, then your ringtone will change to that ringtone. So make sure all profiles have the same ringtone,

yep! I've changed each drop down (ringtone, notification) to what I want them and as of last posting, they have not changed back. I did this with each profile I've created/used. Now i didn't have to with the alarm drop down-that ones not changing for whatever reason-I'm using timely for my alarms).

AMP hasn't been updated in 4 years. I appreciate being able to change the ringtone to something else each time I change the profile, but there should be an option to not do so as well.

I was thinking about why I never noticed this before and I realized I had most of my contacts set at something specific for them so the only time I heard the default tone was when when an unknown call came through-with this phone I've only set a few with their own tone and did try using a different main ringtone for all others. I know I'd done it here and there a few times in the past but obviously wasn't paying that close attention.

Thank you ALL for your help!

My problem is that I can't accessibility internal storage through the settings /sounds /ringtone/add from phone. It only shows my Google drive. I choose a file and nothing happens.

Google Drive won't work to add a file and got set as a default. (stupid) I removed defaults and went back and chose sound picker. Now it's working.

I also use Total Commander as my file manager, which shows up as an option (along with Google Drive) when trying to add a ringtone.

I have set personalized notification sounds for folks in the Contacts. I hear them when I select. I save. It is there as their notification sound like for text message. But the default sounds instead.

I use NextSMS and have not set anything within it. This is within the contacts. It has always worked before, why not now?

I do not use a sound manager. I do have Zedge and did set it to not be put to sleep. I've rebooted and nothing.
