Just saw on ABC World News Tonight that the FCC FINALLY voted to allow cellular providers to block Robo Calls on a system wide basis. Of course, now it's up to AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, etc. to come up with AND implement their own individual system (if any)!

T Mobile has it, and I have had it for a few months. Some calls still get through. It is no panacea, so the FCC has to finally clamp down on these spam and scam calls. They have to fine the $hit out of them.

Up til now it's been an opt-in feature. The FCC now lets it be an opt-out feature instead.

An alternative that's suitable for some people is to set up the phone's Do Not Disturb mode to reject all calls from callers who aren't on your contact list. Or you can use the Call Blocker app (by Grus Group) for the same purpose. Rejected calls then go to voice mail.

I've got a pretty decent call blocking app but some still get through. The point I'm making is, if the Carriers can do it for us now or at least get involved, it would be a BIG HELP!

Verizon had already started with their app titled CALL FILTER.
There are free and subscription services in the app.
I am using the free service.

I also use a community based app titled SHOULD I ANSWER.
I don't know why it's referred to add the obsolete version. It's been that way for a while, but it works very well.

Actually, SHOULD I ANSWER blocked a number that has been calling me daily, while I was typing the previous post.

I've had the SHOULD I ANSWER all way longer than the Verizon CALL FILTER app, but between the two, I cannot recall the last time a crap call got through.

Youmail has the best call blocker. Free and it plays this number has been disconnected to the blocked calls
