[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

I just completed this. Phones came in Friday, OTA'd, CWN Recovery 3-30 all, wiped, CommROM 1.3 and a few of the patches Like a gloveeee. ^^ And in less then an hour.

You guys kick ass, my wife's is next.

Now if only I could find that Slacker that was postied somewhere... :-/

I have a couple of questions/ concerns;

1. I noticed that I can no longer take screen shots by holding back + power button. Is there a different way to take screen shots or do I have to download an app?

2. The messaging no longer offers a contact button under the contact field. That means that I can't just check multiple contacts to send a message to, now I have to enter each number individually.

3. on the 4 tab screen unlock, is there a way to change the TSM icon ?

4. I'd like to change the font color on the suggestion box for my keyboard. The font is black, which is hard enough to see, but the top suggestion is green which makes it almost impossible to see in a well lit environment.

5. Is there a way to get the My Buddies widget? It was one of the only widgets that I used before and now I can't seem to find anything that comes close.

#4: This was really bothering me too. As Landshark pointed out, there is the "Swype Theme Fix for V1.3 (version from 1.2)" in the OP, under the Addons section (link:swype_fix_1.3.zip). I tried it and it made a big difference. The suggestion font is still green but the background is much lighter so it makes everything else much more legible. Try it, you'll be happy with the results:

Ok so I wiped and followed Mr. A's instructions on how to get ED01 - really simple. Complete wipe and reinstall of 1.3 and I've not restored any app data and this thing is running like a dream. I was so stubborn and reluctant to give up my precious app data ... stupid.

I am adding only essential apps and limiting widgets and battery life sans Juice Defender is MUCH improved. Very happy. This is how it should be.

I tried OTA after loading DL09 but it says its not available..can this rom be loaded over DL09 or is that why i get stuck on the android screen?

I solved this by simply flashing DL09 .. Ota to ED03...flash cwm,boot directly into cwm and flash the rom. fresh start always helps

Thank you sir. That was going to be my next step. Was hoping to avoid all those steps but in hindsight had I started with that process I wouldnt have spent near as much time with it, and wold be done by now.

and where do I DL the Kangbang theme.. also one somewhere stated they had Greens for icons etc..

oops one more..my sammy took a swim in the aquarium yesterday and today it seems just fine...
if theres any muffling in my speakers i cant hear it but i cant hear that well no how....
is the speaker one that will hold up ok or ???? a point .....i also had the extra large back to accoomadate the thicker battery..
son dove right in to sting rays and baby sharks,, had one hand on rail and i held left foot...
sammy screen was working as it floated on down..

Message: Long Press on the message to be forwarded---select forward--the rest you should be able to figure out..

Email (using stock email client): Same thing. Long press on email in inbox----forward----select who you want etc. etc.. OR Open email and use the menu soft key, and select forward.

The KB theme is not available as a stand alone. You'll have to re-flash the ROM or restore a nandroid made from Com Rom. I have extracted many of the icons from KB and these can be found in Jaekar's thread after the bootanimations (post # 3 or 4). Theplasticbling has also themed some icons and you can find her post somewhere on the first or second page of the Rooting, Roms and Hacks forum.

Congrats about your phone taking a swim! Thats promising form the occasional spill here and there. I don't believe every fassy is that lucky! Not sure if the speaker would be affected or not..you'll have to tell us! (I don't think many people are willing to test it out )

Yes there is a 1.4 in the works. I'm sure there will be more advances, however, the only one I know for sure that will be included is the new SG2 lockscreen.

I bought my Fascinate used on Ebay, and I could never quite get the GPS to work properly. Perhaps if I do this, reflash completely to stock with the new radio, then reroot, the GPS will work? Maybe the person I bought it from had it rooted and did not flash to stock properly? I remember that when I first turned the phone on, it already had google search installed (the widget), even though I don't believe that it was rooted.

if your rocking comrom you got to do a wipe data/factory reset in clockwork recovery after flashing the rom to get the get the gps to setup as the developer configured it. Did you do that?

Yep. been going nice and smooth since the wipe and reinstall. No more of those safe mode things I was having.

I also believe he configured it to work with all three gps satellites (google,google loc,vzw) . I have to enable all three and wifi, to get to work to my ocd standards. Are you doing the same?

+1 to this^ I have to have all three enabled in order for the GPS to work at all, and wifi on for it to work well. I've redone the whole process a few times, and it's always the same.

I wanted to start clean anyway, but once I get CommROM back on I'll definitely try this. Thanks!

I'm currently running EC01 kangbang 1.2 phones been acting a little wonky and slow for a few days and randomly freezing up. Its been forever since I have made major changes to the phone. If I wipe data/factory reset, I know all the zip files and what not will be on my sd card. once I am back to stock, thats where I am fuzzy....

where do I go from there? I have Ti backup and have made a nandriod backup. I just don't want to screw up my phone. Do I boot into recovery the old fashioned way? or restore first? If someone could help that would be awesome.

After you ODIN back to stock and OTA to ED03, don't bother restoring anything yet with TiBu, as you will want to wipe all data before flashing ComRom. After you ODIN CWR and flash ComRom and make sure everything is working to your liking, then download TiBu form the Market and restore your apps.
