just did a data wipe to get gps enhancement and i am getting dialer force closes. I wiped cache and dalvic and it is still happening. will try fixing permissions now

i restored a backup up the FC's stopped. Gonna try reflashing 1.3 and wiping data again

so after restoring backup, reflashing com rom, THEN wiping data, cache, dalvik. I got no FC's at boot up. I wonder if the problem had to do with having a theme over kangbang when i wiped data

BTW, for whomever is in control of the Swype stuff for ComRom1.4 and up - if you could change text color on the pop up words from Green on a grey background to something with a little more contrast that would be great. Its just a bit hard to read with the green.

I agree.. I know I can switch Swype themes but I'd rather just stick with what comes with the Comm Rom and make suggestions for the next round.

I already discussed this with him, apparently that little popup window is a major PITA to reskin, but he's aware of it and working away on it =)

Ytaay knows all about that. He doesn't post here as much as those of us who don't have a life but he knows what he is doing and what he is talking about. He, killahamsammich, and Chris3D have been around for a while but don't post like crazy. But when they do post something it's a good idea to listen to their advice. I always seem to feel a little better when any one of them is logged on. Just like you and several others, they are integral parts of this forum that make it the best.

I don't think there was any insult in your post, just giving you a little info and sort of introducing you to Ytaay. You are following right along in my footsteps as far as how much time you are spending here. So you will get to learn some of the names, which is why I always like to try and throw a shout out to knowledgeable, experienced members who don't post on here as much. Before you know it, you will see the posts where people are saying "Lttlwing16 said to do this, and he really knows his stuff." I believe I've already seen that with the stuff you are learning from JaeKar99.

Anyone having Texting issues? Im texting my contacts and all they're getting are blank texts. My friend is also trying to text me but im not getting anything from some of them! Please help, urgent!

I don't know if it's been asked before, but I don't feel like reading through 182 pages for it. I did a data wipe and wiped cache, all that stuff, and when it starts up, it gives a force close for android hidden menus and messaging. Also, I'm getting no service, even though data is on and wifi works fine. Any help?

Edit: Look's like it was the theme I was using. Although it shows I have no service when I do. But no more force closes

Have you flashed the Messaging Patch from Adryn at the beginning of this thread? That seems to fix a lot of weird texting issues that have been cropping up. Here's a link:

Obliterated my network connection

Delete existing comrom1.3.zip from your phone

Redownload the rom, store on sd obviously.

Backup your apps with My backup pro or Tibu whatever you prefer. Export your contacts to sdcard or make sure they are sync'd to google. (If you don't have these done already)

Boot phone all the way down. Pull battery, put back in, three button push straight to CWM

Wipe cache and davlik three times each

Wipe data/factory reset

Install comrom

wipe data/factory reset

Boot your phone, and let the media scanner finish before touching anything..

When it fully boots and media scanner is done.

*228 option 1 it will reboot

*228 option 2 it will reboot again

Boot into cwm..flash browser patch

Reboot

Check data..use your browser to try to load a page or do a search

If data is good,

Then add your google account, and download your backup software from the market..

Just restore your apk.s DON"T RESTORE APP DATA or SYSTEM SETTINGS..

Reboot..

Check data again.. if it is bad, the problem is with your restore from your backup..

If all is good, check your messaging app.. see if it's working.. if it is not, then I would flash the messaging patch on the op..(I followed the same procedure as listed and messaging works fine, but I haven't written any really long messages. I know MMS works.. )

I restored all my apps without data, except for Touchdown (lots of settings) where I restored app & data.

Touchdown was working for the initial sych. At some point soon after that, no 3G at all. I'm not necessarily blaming Touchdown. In the past, I've had intermittent problems with 3G - thus this whole "fix" to begin with.

The only other significant thing I did, was load LauncherPro from scratch from Market.

Thoughts? If flashing the modem, anyone got a link for the download handy? Also, any guidance if more complex than download and flash would be appreciated.

I would recommend going back to stock and OTAing your way to Froyo, then following all the steps you quoted from littlwing (IMO, that is the best way to install 1.3). That way you have the ED01 radio and modem, and hopefully that will clear up the nastiness. Here's a thread by DroidXcon on how to return to stock, just in case you need the guidance:

I'm thinking re-installing touchdown data is what did you in my friend..

try uninstalling touchdown, go into cwm and wipe cache's then reboot. See what happens..

I got myself to CR 1.3 after flashing EC01 via Odin - did a full factory wipe - wiped caches - flashed CR 1.3 and for the most part I am thrilled. However, I have been having intermittent FCs and crash/reboots.

I did restore my apps + app data via Titanium - is this likely the cause of my problems? If so I'll back out and start over and wipe and restore no app data. In fact it's probably what I'll do just to be safe. I guess I'm just in denial, but stability is worth losing saved games and having to set every app up again ..

Out of curiosity I've heard some have had issues with Launcher Pro+ and the 1.3 browser. I have the patch, but afaik the crashes are not browser related. What are the symptoms of the LP+/Browser issue? (I read about the person who had issues with the bookmarks widget, but I don't use that). Thanks.
