[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

Currently running ED01 with ComRom 1.2

Would like to go to ED03 and ComRom 1.3.... what is the smoothest way to do this?

I am assuming:

1) Odin to DL09
2) OTA to ED03
3) Odin CWM 3.0
4) Flash KB 1.3

Is it that simple? Should I be doing any data wipes or cache/dalick wipes in there somewhere?

Thanks for any input!

Wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache between steps 3 and 4, then wipe data after step 4 in order to enable the GPS mods and enhancements built into the framework.

Ok.... data wipe AFTER i flash ComRom 1.3.... but, do I let the phone fully boot first, the reboot into recovery? or do I reboot directly into recovery and then let the phone boot with KB?

Thanks shark

yep..let the rom boot fully. if your not voodoo it will convert and may take up to 15 minutes..you'll hear a robot talking (sorry if you knew this).

check the steps in post # 4 here

i have flashed voodoo before... so I am good with that... I am just curious if I let the rom fully boot first, then reboot into cwm and do a wipe data/factory reset.... or do I do that BEFORE i let the rom fully boot in order to enable the GPS mods and enhancements built into the framework (as Shark suggested above)

Got it direct from Adrynalyne - doesn't matter if you data wipe during the same cwm session or let the ROM fully boot then go back into cwm & wipe data then. As long as you data wipe after you flash the ROM

I'm sorry if I overlooked this. I did search this thread prior to asking. When exiting the camera, the phone locks up and eventually restarts. This occurs on mine and my wifes phone most of the time we leave the camera. Any fix for this?

ok... next question...

I really dont like the auto update feature where market starts to download every app you have ever had... I want to avoid this and use my TiBu.... but inorder to get TiBu, I have to log into the market...

is there anyway around this??

Thanks

Thank you in advance for helping me with my problem. I work in a hospital, and I frequently use an application called Medscape for quick access to drug/disease information. Link to the application in the android market is here:

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.medscape.android&feature=search_result

Since rooting and installing the Community ROM, I can no longer use the application's built in updater. It downloads updated reference material about 1 time per month. I contacted the company and asked them about it and they said the most likely cause was ad-blocking built into this custom ROM.

My question is, how can I delete the ad-blocking so I can continue to use this application? It worked perfectly on ED01/ED03 stock. I love the community ROM and do not wish to go back to bloatware hell.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

@jortenzi

when you set up your google account make sure Auto Sync is not turned on.. in accounts & sync.

or

There is an option in TiBU to create a .zip of the app that you can install manually using a file manager.. never used it but, you could give that a try.. another option...copy the .apk from the system folder to the sdcard and install using the stock file manager after install of KB

ok... will give option1 a try first.... then go from there. Thanks again

I think the ad blocking is built into the ROM, so I don't think it can be turned off. You could always flash the Debloated ED01 ROM. It's not ComRom by a looong shot, but there's no ad blocking or bloat. Just make sure to disable voodoo if you decide to do that, or your phone will be headed somewhere in a handbasket.
