[ROM] AC-ROM-Froyo 2.2

I have noticed a little quirk, though. I have duplicates of my widgets on top of themselves. Let me try to explain. If I long press on a widget and drag it to remove it goes away, but leaves a copy on my home screen. Widgets that update (like AC or engadget) were saying no connection, but when I dragged it to remove the version "underneath" it was working just fine. Same thing with the photo frame widgets that I have. I removed one widget (that was showing up white) and underneath it was the one with the pictures. Weird.

this happened to me also after i moved to 2.4 from 2.3. It's an annoying thing but as he said just drag the duplicate to the trash and problem is solved. Minor unconvenience for a great rom

if you remember -- it appears to be a Titanium issue i mentioned way back at the start of this thread. there are only a couple of times where it didn't happen for me and it was because i was picking and choosing what to restore with Titanium. i, however, don't remember the best way to restore everything without it happenening. I don't believe this is a ROM bug.

As of right now, it's the best froyo rom there is and again it's not even close. Thanks to the devs, you guys hit a homerun on this!

Edited for cleanliness - This is an issue with Titanium backup, not the ROM, and we are in discussions with the developer regarding.

Nick is correct in that it's not a bug with the ROM. This has to do with how titanium is being used. For the example of flashing 2.4 over 2.3 in which you only wiped cache and Dalvik, there is no need at all to use titanium. Only the factory wipe clears your home screen, not dalvik or cache.

What happened was, you probably wiped dalvik and cache and flashed 2.4. None of your icons or anything were touched and you should have been fine (because you didnt do a factory wipe) but then you probably did a titanium restore? Guess what that did ..... double icons/widgets

You only need titanium when doing a full wipe or just a factory wipe. Not necessary when doing a cache wipe or dalvik wipe. If you want to check it out for yourself, just go into recovery and do a cache wipe and dalvik wipe then reboot. Your phone will be absolutely fine and all your icons and widgets will be in place.

Reguardless, I don't blame the rom and I know it's a titanium issue because I have had this happen on several roms I have tried. Not sure why they doubled up this time because as I said I didn't use titanium at all after upgrading to 2.4. Weird issue and hopefully the titanium dev can figure out what's causing this. Man that stinks fellas. I have an open line of communication with Joel, the developer of Titanium backup, so I'll drop a bug in his ear. Hopefully he's heard of this and can give some advice. Thats one of the cool things with our ROM team is we have some alright connections and can maybe leverage them to get you guys straightened out like we did with Wireless Tether. Fingers crossed.

Indeed i have friend, let me say that it is a great rom, a great replacement for RvU in the new 2.2 world. I have had undoubtedly the best battery life out of any rom i've used.

Its nice to see a solid, well oiled rom, at a time where every one is so focussed on benchmarks and performance tests.

When you add the widget (HTC Clock) to your screen it will bring you to a white screen. Pick "add a city", type in the name of your city and click on it. Now you should be back at that white screen where you saw add a city BUT this time your city will be listed. click on that and viola .... widget added with your city.

Now what your problem might be mark is i think, im not positive, that if you want the widget to actually find you, you need to have location services enabled. If you are using the Full ROM that's no problem. Just click Menu > Settings > Location > "use wireless network" and that should keep the widget updated for you but heres 2 things you should note ....

1) using location services for any widget is going to use (read, waste) power.
2) Using any kind of widget that collects information from a web based source such as weather is going to use (read, waste) power.

Ok I got my whole voicemail app missing problems fixed. I factory wiped and installed 2.4 a 4th time and got it there. Not sure why it didn't show up.

Now I am still having a problem with my location.
Now even when I go to google website, and under the search bar where it shows your location, it can't find my location.

I've tried every type of setting in settings/location and I still can't get it to work.

It seems that I'm missing a driver or something.

Now I can turn GPS on and nav and maps work fine, but google search still won't find my location, nor will beautiful widgets. (I also thought the HTC clock widget automatically found my location)

Is anyone having issues with their camcorder in 2.4 under 720p settings. My phone freezes every time I use it. But works under other resolutions. I have tried this on two who and get the same results and have tried both 2.3 and 2.4

I should note that I can start the recording in 720p but when I go to stop it. That's when it freezes and does a force close then my system hangs and I have to restart.

Edited for thread cleanliness - version 2.4.5 fixes the camcorder issue. We will no longer be supplying nor supporting a stock kernel as of 2.4.5.

Good catch, I get the same thing. No need to restart though, I think I just hit the home button and it takes you home. Switching to the next lowest resolution is a temp fix.

I can hit the back button as well but the whole system is slowed way down. I even run task killer and doesn't help.

After hitting home you may want to go in and forceclose the camera/camcorder (camcorder might not be visible as i think it shows up as camera) prior to going back in otherwise you may get locked up. Menu > Settings > Applications > manage Applications > All - force kill camera and or camcorder

Edit - And thank you for providing detailed accurate instruction. Thank took all of 30 seconds to duplicate, and figure out a quick workaround so you dont need to restart, and can use the camcorder (although at a slightly lower resolution). We will look into this. Thanks again

In the non overclocked kernel the video camera won't even start *recording. Just hangs during the process.

You should be fine with using it. Of course doing anything the component wasn't specifically designed to do will take it's toll on it. Specifically overclocking can cause heat issues. Simple math, Heat + electronics = bad. But thats where setCPU comes into play. We can overclock the kernel and you don't HAVE to have it overclocked. Because of SetCU, we've made the change and you have the power to use that change or not. Also you can set heat profiles in SetCPU (check post #2 in the FAQ for details)

Let me let you in on my little secret. Other than for testing purposes, and getting benchmarks ... I don't overclock. THATS RIGHT FOLKS YOU READ IT HERE FIRST!! lol I am an EXTREMELY heavy user and value my battery life so to me, overclocking is simply not worth it. I suppose if your doing something graphics intensive it is nice but for texts, emails, phone calls (basic phone functionality), it's really not that necessary. I go with underclocking. I have some profiles setup in SetCPU, have the processor underclocked, it comes undervolted by default. I get some great battery life compared to any other ROM I've used.

So u use the oc kernel but use setcpu to keep it at 998 or below. Is that correct? Or should I just remove the oc kernel
