sooooo...if i WIPE, THEN UPGRADE TO 2.3, THEN UPGRADE TO 2.4 (NO WIPE) WILL I THEN BE ABLE TO USE MY NANDROID BACK UP TO RESTORE MY STUFF?

[Removed my reply as lillysdad hit the nail on the head]

Regarding your Amen Ra question, I'm not sure why RomManager wont flash it for you. I have no affiliation with that project so we cannot provide nor offer support of any kind.

With your new found knowledge, why don't you place the signed zip into your clockwork folder on your SD card, open ROM manager, select FULL WIPE, then flash the 2.4?

I thought so regarding my nand question. Just checking. I have Mybackup pro and titanium already. Which do you think is better. I have been using MyBackup. I am considering Titanium, just wondering. Duh on Full Wipe then flash 2.4. Not sure why I was asking wipe, 2.3 then 2.4. Sorry LOL. So, Titanium or MyBackup. Just wanted to know your personal preference.

I use neither BUT i will openly admit I have an EXTREMELY unfair advantage being that i flash 2 or 12 ROM's a day lol!!!! I can literally flash a ROM and once i'm booted, have all my crap loaded, all my contacts setup (thanks gmail) and all my settings the way i want them in probably 2 minutes maybe.

I see why some people like titanium but when I'm testing functionality of a ROM it doesn't benefit me or the end users to take shortcuts on anything. Can you imagine if we used titanium to restore widgets .... released a ROM and found out somehow, someway, people were unable to add widgets? I'd be mad if i were the end user.

yeah, i try to do the same thing too. i play with the ROM for a while and then i will load my backup.

and from earlier -- i prefer titanium and have paid for both. in fairness, though, i haven't used mybackup pro in a while and the reason i stopped is because it would reload the apps, but not assocciate them with market. i do recommend titianium if you like picking and choosing.

I am learning so much today. :) Overclocking with AC 2.4 questions coming. But a quick question... When I get new numbers or save a number and it gives me the option of Google or phone...I choose phone. Is that good? Asking because the few times that I have had to restore contacts after full wipes over the past few months of ROMS, I have like 2000 contacts. Some are dupes. Does saving them to Google help manage tht issue better. Also, I love your ROM. I've used them all. By far this is the best so far.

I've seen some dev's recommend one over the other, but never really explained why they prefer one over the other. I've never used mybackup but I haven't had any problems with Titanium, either.

I would choose Google. I've heard that some people have had problems getting contacts saved to the phone to transfer over to Google. And yes you can manage contacts easier on Google, because you can access them from any web browser and edit them.

On the HTC clock widget and on beautiful widget my location is not showing up? Any thought on what to look for to fix this?

I did a full wipe twice now.

Edited for thread cleanliness - This will be corrected in version 2.4.5 and is due to a location.apk issue

lite or full?

Edit - nevermind. I am using lite and just downloaded beautiful widgets and it showed my location without a problem. I didn't have GPS on and I didn't have location services enabled. I picked my city and it showed right up. Going to get a refund now as I only downloaded to test :)

I can manually install my location, but the phone is not finding out on it's own.
Now I don't know how to manually install my location on the htc clock widget. Anyone know?

edit this is full by the way.

i recommend always save to google. you can get 'em whenever you need then. phone or no phone.

Now I can't find my voicemail app. I think default it should be on the home screen after a fresh install. But I can't even find it anywhere.

Have you tried adding it? long press any blank spot on the homescreen > select application > scroll down to voicemail and click it

Is 2.4 a necessary upgrade? I'm not really having issues with the 2.3 version.

Nothing is necessary. If you read the change log and none of that interests you then no need.

-blac's problems were because he tried going from an older version to this newer version without a full wipe that was required between those version. That's not indicative to the ROM and to prevent future confusion, we will likely be reintroducing the wipes back into the ROM. Sorry guys but it's just much easier for us.

-Mark's widget issue sounds like he needed to turn on location settings. Unless you've turned on location settings, there is no way for the phone to find where you are hence cannot update your location. If you don't use location settings you will need to manually set the location in the widget to which i have provided instructions. I suspect mark disabled the location settings while going through the setup wizard because of what he read about the lite version. Disabling these settings is only necessary for the lite version, not for the full. He can probably come back and verify this but its just a guess.

VM is not in the app list.

I know it's in the changelog but I wanna make sure i fully understand. Is 2.4 already overclocked, undervolted and perflock disable? Or where you stating that because of the kernel we can go ahead and do this via SetCPU. Sorry i'm just really try to get a grasp on things.

Sad face. :(

No worries. Titanium should still get you right. Pretty sure utnick has been using it with these ROM's. Hope you guys understand. The less time we spend on flashing problems, the more time we get to develop so in the long run everyone benefits :D

It's already set. you can control the clock speed (over and under) using SetCPU but if you don't want to use SetCPU, you're overclocked and undervolted by default. Using SetCPU though gives you the advantage of setting up profiles and easily changing governors on the fly. Information regarding SetCPU can be found referenced in post #2 in the FAQ section.

I understand, but still sad face. Titanium has worked well for me (except for some widget issues, which are easily fixed).

So I just followed the instructions (word for word) and reflashed RA recovery, did the cache and dalvik wipe, and then flashed 2.4. Everything went perfect! No problems at all!

LOL finally I flashed a ROM (even if it is just an update) and didn't have any issues at all. :D

Ok, Im gonna say this because it needs to be said. This is the BEST froyo rom by far and it's not even close right now. I have tried so many 2.2 roms and with all of them I ended flashing back to fresh 2.1 rom based off 1.47. I just simply could not get good battery life with ANY 2.2 rom no matter what I tried and which kernel I used. Nothing compared to fresh 2.1 with an undervolted kernel, not even a little.

I flashed 2.3 of this 2 days ago after reading gbhil's tweet about needing to give it a shot. I said what the hell, it can't be any worse than the others. I was simply blown away with how much better battery life was on this rom even using the stock kernel. I don't know what you guys changed but the results speak for themselves. Now with the new version 2.4 and an undervolted kernel I have no doubts that I have finally flashed my FINAL 2.2 rom and I'm able to finally stop trying new roms.

It is very true guys, you OWE it to yourself to try this rom out. As of right now, it's the best froyo rom there is and again it's not even close. Thanks to the devs, you guys hit a homerun on this! :)
