Would everyone want stock apps(bloatware) removed?

I think its time I try a fully stock rooted 2.2 rom and see if I continue to have these issues to figure out if its rom related or something physically with this phone.

It's definately not you're phone ..... I've merged 4 threads on market apps not downloading TODAY alone.

As i said before, it's a problem with the vending.apk. Not phone specific, and every ROM thats built from the HTC backbone (including stock) will experience this problem. Had a friend who has a non-rooted EVO ask me about it today.

all are hand in hand. it's one in the same problem. Beezy slid me a new vending.apk last night but i didn't have any time to test it. Hopefully it fixes the problem.

What would be the dif between AC and Steel?

If I'm not mistaken steel is OTA:
-busybox
-root
-deodex

AC-ROM is OTA:
-busybox
-root
-deodexed
-pngoptimized
-zipaligned
-dalvik heap adjusted
-Dirty writeback adjusted
-Wifi radio adjusted
-Low memory adjusted
-Sprint bloat to data/app
-Wireless tethering (this can be done on steel also but you need to get it from Google code)
-spareparts (built from source by gbhil so no advertisements unlike market version you'd run on steel)

Starting with AC-ROM v2.7
-Wired tethering comes default, no more fun pack flash - caulkin
-reboot to recovery from power menu comes default *
-USB-debugging notification killed comes default * - caulkin
-New notification icons for gtalk, gmail, messaging, and email
-MMS compression fix - caulkin
-A framework that's been completely re-worked from the ground up (you're gonna like this)
-Smooth sense included into the newly rebuilt framework above by default. Also working to bring smooth sense into the year 2010 :)
-dare i say it ..... a sense mail.apk that allows you to disable EAS security if you want?
Also: (assuming source comes soon)
-Overclocked kernel
-Undervolted kernel
-Perflock disabled

... probably a few more things i missed but i was doing that from memory. Hope that answers your question.

Cheers!

Where do you guys find the time? :p

Good question. I guess our little hobby got out of hand  I don't have cable so i get to spend lots of time playing on my computer. Beezy is immortal and doesn't sleep ... true story.

Sure, sure, tease us with this stuff. But mention a release date? I don't see one...

Main hold up is HTC right now. I'm probably 95% done with the framework so that could take a couple of days anyway for me to finish so were not gonna rush HTC :)

Release date

XX-XX-2010:p

ROFL!

Seriously though - can you tell us a little more about the new framework? This is wandering outside my area of understanding and I'd like to learn.

I have the vague impression that in this context, a "framework" is a library of code implementing all the various UI elements used on a system. So you when you talk about a new framework, I'm thinking either newer/better UI things ( decent time and date pickers? Please?) or faster performance for the existing elements.

Am I off in the weeds, or is that what you're talking about?

Thanks i can't wait for a fix, also my reboots are more common now, today it happened 6 times in a row.

Hope the vendor file and 2.7 release fixes this, I love this rom, would hate leave.

The reboots have to be an app, I've been running 2.6 since the day it came out (or the day after) and haven't had one reboot. I don't know if me updating to the latest gapps has anything to do with it though .

Yeah I think you have something else going on, too. I've ran this ROM for a week straight with no reboots.

The first thing you should try when you flash a ROM is to redownload (in case it got corrupted somehow), rewipe everything, and reflash. Then restore one app at a time (cause depending on when/how you did your backups restoring could cause issues) and see what happens.

yea,

i dunno what it is, but its been happening since a fresh install.

today the phone was acting funny, a website was taking forever to load, then walla phone goes off, then cycles on and off about 6 more times, with each time getting it to the home screen, its irritating for sure.

There's a thread over in the main EVO forum where some people are experiencing random and multiple reboots. One person had to get their phone replaced to fix it as it was hardware issue for them. Either way there's some suggestions in that thread to try.

Sorry for not posting a link but I'm on my phone and being lazy :)

I was wondering whether AC-ROM v2.6's kernel is undervolted or underclocked when idle. When I upgraded from v. 2.5, I decide not to use SetCPU to see how it works without it. It's not too bad, but I'm thinking of turning on SetCPU again.

The kernel in the v.2.6 is the stock kernel with stock speed(CPU).It won't OC but if you read the great write up on post 2 it has a link to a thread that would allow UV.If not then i wouldn't run setcpu till we put out a update with a OC/UV custom kernel.
