its working fine for me... >.< only thing still troubling me is how to find those images i was looking for last night. ACE is workin great. (although i'll switch to the new-new version when its available, just in case)

THANKS for another great rom Paul!

if i allready downloaded the rom and the kernel, and flashed both, will i need to reflash the newer version that is coming, or will it be exactly the same?

I thought I was blind when I couldn't find a download link. Have you tried your rom with any of the baked snack kernels?

No need to redownload at this time. The amended version is only to fix the kernel installation error. Nothing else in the ROM has changed.

Sorry DTM, the upload is almost finished. I have flashed Twilight Zone and Vision Kernel with it so far. Baked Snack kernels should work too, you will just have to run the OneClickRoot for EXT4 to re-establish root with BS kernels.

Ok- so I kinda took a break from trying to understand HOW to do all this since there were just too many modem versions running around.

I think I've got it down. I'm on DK28 leak. Which also means I have the slightly older CWM. I need to wipe 3x, then get on to EB13 because EC05 does not have an Odin flashable correct? Then once on EB13, I can do the CWM EXT4 for EB13 version- and that will update my CWM version and get me back on EXT4... then I can do 1 of 2 methods to get to EC05 before I can even flash this new link of the rom?

(Thanks again Paul for updating with the Kernel.

Then there's the whole issue of Gingerbread is coming from Samsung thing- which will result in a new modem version I'm sure...grrrr.

Too many steps.

Hey no big deal; I am not in a big rush. I have been having a lot of issues with roms lately (I am confident it comes from journaling; plus I have read that the restoring back up is not 100% and may cause more issues.) and I am looking for something stable. Thanks for providing this rom.

Actually there is an Odin tar for EC05(it is stock and prerooted) found here: Stock Pre-Rooted Deodexed Zipaligned Png Optimized EC05 Tar 4/7/2011 Fixed Both Tars - xda-developers and it is already EXT4.

After doing this odin just flash whatever rom you want and restore your back ups.

Brandonc, you can use this version below to Odin right to a prerooted/deodexed slightly modified stock version of EC05. From there you can just boot into CWM, wipe 3x and flash ACE ROM.
Select the following version from the link below " Slightly Modded EXT4 EC05 Tar Prerooted Deodexed Zipaligned Png Optimized ".
Stock Pre-Rooted Deodexed Zipaligned Png Optimized EC05 Tar 4/7/2011 Fixed Both Tars

Update: ACE ROM v2.0 journaling enabled version is back online. This should resolve the kernel installation problem.

@DTM, thanks for helping out brandonc.

I haven't read about this personally, but I can also say I have used this method plently of times over the last few weeks to enable journaling and I have had no problems with any data corruption or flashing issues. Besides, now you have ACE with journaling enabled right out of the gate to use.. No tricky work-arounds required. :)

Thank you both- I swore I read that somewhere- but didn't see it in other how to threads so I wondered if it was unreliable. That will save my feeble mind some brain cells for sure!:D

@brandonc, it should work fine for you and save all the manual rooting, conversion process, etc. etc..

FYI, once you boot up that Odin version for the first time go ahead and shut down, reboot into CWM and it will finish the conversion process automatically to EXT4. Afterwards make a Nandroid Backup of that stock setup so you have that to restore to for an optional stock build of EC05 slightly modified to play with if you get bored with ACE or any of the other ROMs out there ;)

The rom looks great; no issues so far. BTW the wallpapers are amazing looking are those cyberwarriors also?

Yes the three wallpapers on the sdcard/ACE Wallpapers are done by Cyber Warrior.

I also have a cool boot animation he made for me, I just need to get it optimized so it displays correctly. Unfortunately it didn't make it for the release but I will have it available as a flashable download soon.

Hey Paul, I'm not sure if this was addressed, but I'm guessing that any themes or .apks (like the preloaded apps) that are useable with SFR should also be useable with ACE, since from what I'm reading, you built ACE off the same starting point as SFR, correct?

Correct, anything that is CIQ removal compliant themes like for Syndicate/Bonsai/midNIGHT should also work.

Ok, I'm very new to the whole rooting process. I've had ACE 1.7 installed for the past week and its been working great. Now I'm trying to upgrade to v2.0 and having a few problems. I flashed it and everything UI and preloaded app wise is working. However, whenever I try to install an app from any of the backup programs, I run into a problem.

During the restore process for Titanium Backup and MyBackup Root it will ask me if I want to install the first app, I click yes, it gives the normal "installing" loading bar for the app, then about 20 secs later the phone restarts. Tried this about 3 times each with both programs with the same results.

Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: A little clarification on the problem. Whenever I try to install ANY app, my phone resets during the "installing" phase, even newly downloaded apps from the market. Also, the market seems to be the old market from Eclair. I'm thoroughly confused :/

Since I seem to be the only one with the problem so far its probably user error...so here are my steps i took during the flashing process:

1) Downloaded ACE 2.0 & the EC05 modem.
2) Backed up all info using Titanium Backup, CWM, Mybackup Root, and backed up contacts
3) Copied the ACE 2.0 zip and the eb13-ec05 zip to my SD card
4) Rebooted to recovery mode and did a factory data reset, 3 times.
5) Flashed the Ec05 modem (eb13-ec05.zip) from CWM recovery and rebooted back to recovery
6) Flashed ACE 2.0 and rebooted to regular startup

Anything I should change? Do I need to go back to stock eb13 before the ec05 modem? Do I need to redo the EXT4 procedure? I'm just lost in the sauce right now.

Thank all that is holy! ROM im running now freezes opening a webpage or viewing a picture. Downloading now.. :D

So are the EXT 4 data corruption issues still present? I noticed whenever doing a battery pull while on EXT 4 this would happen.

No, journaling enabled should protect you from data corruption when doing a battery pull or soft reset.

Sounds like an issue with your restores.

I would really recommend a fresh manual download of you Market apps, then do a DATA only restore on your downloaded Market apps.
