I noticed on Ace 1.7 when i plugged it into my computer it gave me an option of picking charge, storage and I believe tether. How do I get it to work on Ace 2.0 or is it only available on 1.7?

Thanks.
are you still in "debug" mode ? ... I believe you have to take it off bebug in order to see those 3 other options

Tex,

How's the ROM running? How would you compare it to others? THANKS!
So far - so good = no complaints as far as the ROM itself ( other than little android battery icon ... LOL ). This ROM is very good , very stable , I was able to get all my apps back on without any problems ( I use AppMonsterPro ) ... give it a spin , I believe you will be impressed

ACE Impressions

Backed up SRF/VK using CWM.

ACE2.0 installed without a hitch. Nice wallpaper, btw. (I had to switch to my slightly more calming wheat fields, though.)

First impressions: It's zippy. Was able to sync my accounts rather quickly and convert the default launcher pro to Launcher Pro Plus. SPB shell appeared to work as well, but I switched back to LPP. Homescreen transitions are fast. Overclocked to 1300/100 with SetCPU without any problems and set up profiles. Worked fine. Haven't had any FCs yet. Basic functions (wifi, 3G, 4G, phone, txt) seem to be working. Didn't check out the GPS yet.

Battery life appears to be OK. No better no worse than the drain while using SRF/VK (I had JuiceDefender enabled on the "balanced" setting.)

Although fast, seems to be a little slower than SRF/VK with the same SetCPU clocks.

Looks good so far. I guess the real test won't be a Saturday night...more like a work day!

Flashed 1st time- no problems. Thanks for all the help!

However- I noticed this issue with my wife's stock Epic when she got the EC05 update. In WIFI, it disconnects after successfully connecting! It's the wierdest thing. The Sprint store flashed her all the way back to DK18! They said there's still known EC05 issues and Samsung told them to recommend THAT and ignore the prompts to update!

Meanwhile, I thought if I could flash ACE on EC05 and get wifi to work I'd finally convince the wife to have me root her phone- but to my shock- the SAME THING. DK28- no wifi issues. Her stock DK18 no issues. EC05- connects, then disconnects IMMEDIATELY.

Is there a known fix I've missed somewhere?

Also, Paul, sorry if I missed the comment earlier- but I asked if the data cap was removed... looks like it's still there. (or do I need to update the PRL?) My 3g speed is dismal under 200kbps download!

Like the boot animation ok- but that stock sprint 4g shutdown is terrible (audible noise= a big no) would love to see that change in an update. Silent on and off animations are best IMHO.

Also, can you provide the power gauge from TER1.7 & previous ACE versions at some time as a flashable .zip? The android guy is cute...for my wife's phone- but I liked the last one you had.

Also- how do I restore my app data only in Titanium? I have PRO- but I must be missing it somewhere.

WiFi issues I haven't had personally. Occasionally I notice it shuts off and I find it in 3g but not too often, its very random and has happened only once a while.

I haven't messed with any of the data caps, technical stuff like that. Whatever has been modified in the kernel by ACS is all that has changed over stock EC05. Only other mods I did personally was the TWS bug fix and the Battery Full Pop Up removal & AM/PM removal in status bar. None of those 3 should be affecting anything with WIFI or DATA speeds.

Could be still EC05 ROM related or something with the kernel, but if it was kernel related I'm sure ACS would have already addressed it.

I will look into future stock theme changed with the battery mods, etc. I used a stock theme by ptfdmedic of midNIGHT and modded it slightly because at the time I was in a hurry and didn't have much time to work on battery mods for the new framework.

Boot animation was the same one from ACE 1.7, I wasn't able to get my new custom made one displaying properly for this release. I meant to add a different shutdown but was side railed dealing with other issues.

Thanks for all the feedback, good or bad it does help and I will make note and see what we can do for a future update. Much of what you are all saying all can be easily changed and won't be a big issue for a future update to ACE.

Overall it seems like release day has gone very well. Enjoy the ROM everyone.

Please don't take my comments as "complaints". Well aware all can be flashed in time- I'd have rather had the ROM on a Saturday when I had plenty of time to mess with everything and get it running rather than late at night after work. Everything we're talking about is a simple flashable fix at some point.

If EC05 was odd for the wife stock- and odd for me rooted- sounds like a Samsung modem issue- I just wonder what it is about my wifi that affects me - but not everyone? Thanks TexasEpic for confirming I'm not crazy though.

Will mess around with other settings to see what works/doesn't. Love the community here- all the help and tolerance for non savvy folks like me... I'd have sold the Epic long ago I fear if I wasn't able to Root thanks to everyone here.

Yes ignore the build on About Phone. Your running the journaling enabled version.

No problem. Yes everything discussed up to this point can be resolved by flashing a patch or whatever to fix/change stuff.

I'm not taking any comments the wrong way. I appreciate every ones honesty and input :)

Been running ACE 2.0 since yesterday. Tried to put the phone through the ringer so to speak.

Haven't had the wifi issues. Bluetooth worked flawlessly sending photos to my computer. GPS appears to take a while to fix, but seems accurate. Camera and video are good. Haven't observed any choppiness.

I flashed Vision kernel and Matted Blues theme, and Vision does appear to give it some zip. I have it on 1000/100 with scaling set to on demand. Maybe it's my imagination since it is based on Twilight, but it does appear faster.

SPB shell is definitely slower on this build, so I'm sticking with Launcher Pro since it runs smoothly.

Ran some benchmarks on it. Was typically getting 1500-1600 on Quadrant and around 63+ FPS on Neocore with SetCPU set to 1000/100 on Demand. Haven't tried any voltage control. I'm hesitant since I had some real issues with SFR/VK and messing with the voltage.

@kevincwelch, sounds like your putting a good run on things. Thank you. Even better it sounds like a good report.

GPS, that will as always up to this point remain a random device issue and not the fault of any particular person's setup or the fault of any ROM. Some have issue, some don't.

Use whatever kernels you want,. that's what makes a custom ROM so great. Flexibility.

First off, thanks for all the work you did on this Paul. I think I ended up with a couple bad flashes at first (would lock up when powering on or off) but reflashing eventually fixed it. Other than that, the ROM has been behaving itself quite nicely for the past 18 hours or so. I was in a similar boat as you where certain aspects of SFR just wouldn't work for me, so this is a welcome change.

Right now, the only thing I can ask for is what has been brought up before. Would love to see the network speed cap removed like it is in SFR, if it's not an overly difficult tweak. I'm assuming this is a ROM side tweak and not a kernal one.

Thanks again, Paul

Sprint Nav

Has anyone been able to install the udate for the Sprint Nav app.
When i started the app i got a message that there was an upgrade for the app but my phone was not supported.

I will look into this, I know Syndicate has it working so I will see what k0nane did to get it working.

Long-term ACE Upgrade Path - EB13 or EC05?

First, thanks to Paul for the release of ACE ROM 2.0, I'm sure it will be rock-solid before long just like the previous versions. My concern (below) is probably best addressed by Paul himself.

I am currently running ACE ROM 1.7 based on Froyo EB13/EXT4. I understand I can upgrade to ACE 2.0 by flashing the EC05 modem in CWM and then flashing the 2.0 ROM - easy enough.

With future upgrading and ROM flashing in mind, I was wondering if it would be beneficial for the long-term stability of the phone to Odin back to Eclair, do a stock upgrade to EC05 and then the EC05/EXT4 conversion before flashing ACE 2.0 (and subsequent versions), rather than stay with EB13/EXT4 for future updates.

I'd like to hear Paul's opinion on which version he thinks is better for future ACE updates - EB13/EXT4 or EC05/EXT4? Or does it really matter? My main reason for asking is I've read the thread about stock EC05 problems/concerns and it seems to have its own can of worms. I'm sure much of that is fixed in ACE 2.0 but...maybe not all? I've been quite happy with ACE 1.7 and would rather not throw a wrench into things just for the sake of following the "official" Samsung EC05 upgrade path - especially if there are no benefits in doing so.

So Paul...what say you? Thanks again for all your efforts!

Hi Paul, thanks for this awesome ROM. Just what I was looking for! Super stable (seriously, one FC on Rdio, which is known to be a little buggy), battery life is great ( with 100<1000 on-demand in setCPU), and I like the look of it.

However, now I'm getting the issue with other callers not being able to hear me. I know this has been an issue on other ROMs, but I can't find any fixes for it. I've used Midnight, Bonsai, stock, and Syndicate without having this issue.

Any help is appreciated!

PS I'll test more, but I called two people with 2 bars and both said I sounded distant and volume was quite low.

I havent had any issue with GPS lock, the camera/video is great, no wifi issues, bluetooth works flawless, no crashes, no lag, no stuttering, all perfect...

Im trying to kill the phone, but nothing doesnt work. The ONLY thing since resolved for me is battery life; the battery plummets with the Twilight kernel for me. I switched to Genocide and its much better (manual UV for the win). The ROM itself has been flawless. Once they get the VisionKernel 1.2 link back up, im gonna give it a shot- its based on Twilight but with manual undervolting...

Just to amend what I said earlier...with the stock twilight kernel, battery was a little quick to drain. With vision kernel, battery is better. With a couple of push email accounts and low 3G signal, on idle I am losing 1-2% per hour.
