Can someone post the link to the Twilight Zone 1.0.4 version of the kernel so we all may share in the stableness.

Update = after flashing that TwilightZone v1.0.4 as you suggested Paul , I have NOT run into anymore freezes at all = THX. I have the SetCPU at 200/1200 and it has been running fine so far. ( although I see you mentioned 1000 is better for battery , so I'm gonna lower that now ). I am so glad to finally get this ROM running right ; and since I am still fairly new to all this, I really thought I had been doing something wrong to be causing all the freezes when it was actually just a kernal issue ( for my phone anyway since the regular kernal is OK for other folks ) THX again for all the help and THX again for this really cool ROM = keep up the good work ! ( and hurry up with that Gingerbread version ... just kidding )

Hero_Over will follow the same as everyone else in his future updates I'm sure.

As far as journaling enabled being the solution to everything, it is to a point but the freezing issues are mainly the direct result of the kernel. The journaling enabled protects you during the freezing from the kernel if you end up doing the battery pull from data corruption but it all starts with the kernel.

Bottom line, if you use the right kernel/setup running a no journaling version is very doable. Once I discovered my problems with no journaling I was able to successfully run them.

As a rule of thumb I think if your going to stick with normal CPU settings like 100/200 Mhz-1000Ghz for the undervolting advantage (best battery) then you can get away with no journaling once you find that kernel that works best for you.

On the other hand if your one of those who likes to play around with OC your device and experimenting with the setups then I think journaling enabled is a safer approach to cover your butt sort of speak in the event of lockups and data corruption.

This is just my take on things, everyone is entitled to their own approach to running ROMs and their setups but this is just my experience from almost 6+ months of running custom ROMs and hundreds and hundreds of flashings starting way back on Eclair 2.1 (DI18). I claim to be no expert I'm just going off my own knowledge and gathering of information I've read from some of the best devs out there and everyone in between. Custom ROMs is always a risk, they are custom... Things will go wrong, we do need to remember this is still "a phone.." even though many of us depend on it for other means.

Edit: Before you ask about the hundreds and hundreds of flashing... Yes I'm not joking.. In the time frame that EC05 was released and probably a week into it creating that Odex RFS prerooted Odin version I did with Droidxcon I probably used Odin and flashed ROM's somewhere in the ball park of 30-40 times on Odin and about the same or more on flashing.. I was complaining to Ragnarokx about using Odin 10+ times or more in one day along with going from Eclair to EB13 to EC05 and back to test things out.. Honestly I'm surprised my device hasn't had a memory failure from all the flashing abuse I've done to it. (Holding my breathe..) I've got more Odin "frequent flasher miles" than your average air traveler.. LOL....

Good to know and hear of that experience. I think most of my issues were with underclocking and trying to remove every possible thing I could to get the best battery life. Ive relaxed a little bit- I have a good idea of what I can and cant do without creating problems. I am always to eager to upgrade for some new feature and then have issues when its unstable- I think its best for me to roll on journaling versions, but thats just me. I usually suggest journaling when I see others with force close and boot loop issues..

Oh ya where is that reported from?

It was this obscure, underground, barely heard of website. Going there is kind of a guilty pleasure, nay, addiction for a very small group of smart-phone users. There should probably be a support group set up for us... ;)

Give me a few and I will post it in the 2nd post of this thread.

Edit: I just updated the 2nd post a little while ago to make this more clear. I already had it listed about Google Maps not being included in the ROM and to download from the Market. I just made note that Google Navigation is part of the package.

@SandersJC64, thanks for pointing this out. Like I just mentioned it was already posted but I made it a bit more clear since some people didn't know it was a "combo" package download from Google.

If you download Google Maps from the Market, the Navigation is included.

Hope this wasn't asked. I searched and didn't find. I extracted the Sprint/Samsung apps in the second post because I wanted the Program Monitor widget. When I click on the file on my phone, it goes to the install screen but then it says, "Application not installed". Did I miss something? Thanks for any help!

1. Those are from ACE ROM v1.7 and based on Froyo EB13 but should work on EC05

2. If it was a Samsung app, then it has to be moved to /system/app/ folder to install. Only Sprint apps install when clicked on.

There is a program called Ghost Commander from the Market you can use to move files to "Root Level" directories such as /system/app

is there a way to get AROUND this??? instead of changing a few lines of code.. recompiling, flashing, checking to see if it worked... repeating... is there a way to test my theming out on android virtual machine (emulator from the android sdk) or the google live cd?? my poor phone is in about the same boat. i only have time to work on weekends, but last weekend alone my epic got flashed at least 20 or 30 times.

Love The Rom

I don't mean to waste space in this thread but I just want to say this Rom is like the perfect Rom that I have been looking for. It is stable, minimalistic, fast enough, and very simplistically themed.

I just wanted to say thank you for your hard work and I know i'm not the only one who appreciates these Roms and the very elegant way of how you organize your notes and updates on the first page.

Looking forward to future updates.

Thanks again :)

I tried that but when I try to move "SamsungWidget_ProgramMonitor.apk" it responds with:

ALERT File not accessible. /system/app/SamsungWidget_ProgramMonitor.apk (Read-only file system) Nothing was moved."

Not sure how to get around that. Any ideas? Thanks

Give me a few, I will create a flashable zip for you.

I'll have it up in the 2nd post of this thread in the Troubleshooting/Patches section.

I flashed 1.28low kernel today and root seems missing, super user icon is still there, do I have to Oneclick root again?
