[ROM] ACE ROM v2.0 (No Further EC05 Development)

Hey guys I need some help.

I put on the ACE Rom and then decided to take it off.

I went and did through clockwork recovery and restored my backup that I did before I flashed it and now I have this.

Any fixes?

If I'm not mistaking, that android logo flashing during boot up is just showing that the kernel you're using allows custom boot animations...

btw, i flash this rom and my data connectivity has completely gone out the window, i'm not blaming the rom, i'm blaming EB13 would anyone know what is going on? I used the .pit and .tar files to root and convert to ext4 then flashed the rom

Did you get your issue resolved with the data connectivity? I haven't had any issues while using ACE or even Froyo EB13 with data connectivity.

I can confirm this is the result of the kernel used back when Froyo EB13 was released and converted over to deodexed for everyone. It was put in there purposely to show that custom boot animations can be used.

To remove that flashing android logo and install a custom boot animation go to the link below.

Not yet, I actually odined back to DI18, I plan on trying again today but not doing the odin, eb13+root+ext4 all in one option. Doing it step by step instead.

Well that's what I was saying, I really don't think, in fact I doubt the rom caused this issue. I'm sure it was EB13. Is it possible that I received a bad download? Crayz88 what method did you use to update to EB13, then root and ext4? Maybe I should try a different way.

Well I was flashed to DK28 and using truly epic rebirth ( wich is a great rom by the way) so I used odin to flash back to stock DI18 I think it is and the used odin again to flash EB13 doing a complete wipe befor each flash then flashed onesteproot for EB13 and then flash the EB13 kernel for EXT4 through CWM5 and finally the ACE rom and addons I wanted. No connection promblem, no camera issues, no gps issues, everything seems to be working great so far.

I have noticed a small bug when in landscape mode the aosp lock screen kinda turns sideways but you still drag it up to unlock. And looks kinda funny...

Yes, that bug has been there since day one when we started using the AOSP lockscreen way back. Requests have been made to resolve the issue but nothing has been changed.

Haha ok it does not bother me i have been using ace for what 2 3 weeks now and this is the first time i noticed it so ya not going to be a problem lol one other thing though ( I don't think its ace at all but could be related) With the facebook app for android i use to be able to check in at places every since i have been running Ace it does not seem to work... Could you or some one else check on that for me to see of that in fact can check in with facebook works or does not work?

Looks great so far. A few things I'd like to see fixed overall in the Epic however, and if you're able to resolve any of them, that'd be terrific.

-PPTP VPN connects (since going to 2.2) but only stays connected for about 20 seconds before loosing an IP address/connectivity. If I check with IPdroid, it shows all the correct info. I can goto a website that displays the IP address in the first 20 seconds and all is fine. After that period of time, the browser stops working and IPdroid doesn't show any networks.

-EMAIL SIGNATURES FOR EACH ACCOUNT and not just one overall signature in the Email app! I can't believe that Google hasn't done this yet on its own. I have 4 email accounts and if I change the signature in one, it changes for all of them.

-I am now missing the Memo application after install of this ROM. I haven't found a way to restore it yet, but still looking through the forums.

I'm having an issue with loading the stockframework w/ battery mod. I install from SD card then reboot, but its still the black theme... Also the Stock samsung apps zip doesnt seem to stall at all. Keeps saying failed.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

i agree. if you can paul - perhaps the memo/notepad stock app can be put back into the rom? or perhaps posting a link to the file to flash to restore it on the second page?

Never used IPdroid, and have not used PPTP VPN, this could be a Froyo EB13 bug. This is something out of my area of knowledge, sorry.

Have you ever considered using a different email app like K9 ? Once I tried it I never went back to the stock email app.

Check the #2 post in this thread, I just put up a link for it. FYI, it was removed as part of the bloatware. Many people prefer ColorNote from the Market.

I will check this framework to verify, it worked last I checked.

Edit/Update: I personally downloaded and flashed the Stock Theme with Battery Meter and it returned me to the stock framework w/battery mod as expected. I also did a screen shot and put up a new Preview of it next to the link on the 2nd post.

This is not a flashable zip, instructions are in the #2 post for using this Stock Samsung/Sprint apps zip.

That's why I'm still using the stock email app. I like having the combined inbox as well as access to separate accounts if I want. The only complaint about the stock email app is the signature problem. I don't know if someone can pull the apk apart and rewrite it so that there are separate signatures for each account. Then maybe you can include that into the ROM.

You need to get the deodexed version first by flashing it or you can use the all in one method with Odin which will give you everything deodexed EB13/prerooted/CWM3 & EXT4. All that is left is to flash your ROM of choice.

Froyo EB13 Pre-Rooted, Deodexed, with Clockwork - RFS & EXT4

Choose the "Stock EB13 Deodexed EXT4 + CW 3.0.0.6" version and follow Ragnarokx's instructions.

But it's been well documented the issues the Tab app has with exchange accounts and attachments.

Hate to say it - but there's not enough GREAT 3rd party email apps, and Samsungs' are buggy as heck. Really miss the HTC one.

While you won't have a consolidated inbox, I highly recommend Touchdown for exchange- but the lack of consolidation kills it for people.

I've heard a lot of blackberry pros that move to Android complain the email support is nowhere near BB... course that's the ONLY thing BB has going for them.

With regard to CWM- haven't they moved beyond version CW 3.0.0.6 now? Or is this still the latest to support Epic? When I read in another thread about a newer version- I thought I should wait before flashing EB13... I hate redoing all this and want to set it and forget it- got 3 phones to do this to... and now that I've read about the no - CIQ fix... I'll gladly wait.

Always shocked me at the supposed "power of Hummingbird" and yet real world performance was far below snapdragon in my opinion. With this sort of thing removed I hope to finally see this phone FLY performance wise compared to my buddies' evo.

Paul. Great job with ROM. Rooted last weekend for first time. Flashed SyndicateFrozen. Too many bugs and FC's. Found ACE and couldn't be happier. Simple. Stable. No FC's. Just what heavy business users need. Outstanding!

Quick question. What do you recommend for a wifi tether app with ACE? You made some comments in an earlier post about not including one, but I didn't see a recommended download. Does the android-wifi-tether (wireless_tether_2_0_7.apk) work with ACE? I note that you included the Sprint Hotspot app with ACE.
