Paul. Great job with ROM. Rooted last weekend for first time. Flashed SyndicateFrozen. Too many bugs and FC's. Found ACE and couldn't be happier. Simple. Stable. No FC's. Just what heavy business users need. Outstanding!

Quick question. What do you recommend for a wifi tether app with ACE? You made some comments in an earlier post about not including one, but I didn't see a recommended download. Does the android-wifi-tether (wireless_tether_2_0_7.apk) work with ACE? I note that you included the Sprint Hotspot app with ACE.

Wireless Tethering version 3.0 pre 11, worked fine for me the other day. I believe another visitor also confirmed the newest version worked well too. Use the link I provided in the OP to get to Wireless Tethering downloads at Google.

@brandonc, yes the latest CWM is 3.0.0.6. I would expect it to stay that way for awhile unless something new is discovered in the filesystems that forces them to update CWM. Version 3.0.0.6 looks identical to 3.0.0.5, I think Dameon87 just gave it new version number to go along with Froyo EB13.

As far as the processors, you should know by now we can't really judge a processor by benchmarks. You even have some of the best devs out there saying the same thing, they provide the benchmarks because there are those who do swear by them and to show there is speed improvements that go along with their new coding developments but it still comes down to true real world performance.

Okay, I'm having a bit of trouble. After having this rom for a few hours, i now can no longer get passed the samsung screen. I tried to recover in cwm, but its still stuck. I cant find a good link to download odin. everything is 404'd. What do?

I just want to get back to stock-stock and start over.

Anything i can do in clockwork to get the stock kernel?

Just wondering, did you change/flash something after initially flashing the ROM? I haven't heard of any problems that just seem to creep up from nowhere especially getting stuck at the Samsung boot screen.

Ok well I have the rom working flawlessly! Amazing rom! Wonderful work Paul, thank you soo much for taking time out of your day to supply us with such a wonderful rom!

However guys, I swear it feels like EB13 is giving me on and off data issues. Like sometimes web browsing is extremely fast and sometimes it hangs to like dial up speeds lol, I'll have 5-6 bars sometimes and network speeds are horribly slow, my phone is lying to me haha. Whats the deal here?! Thats really the only issues I have are data connectivity. Speed test shows high scores one second and low another.

Paul.. got a question. think someone else asked it but now i cant find where. . . is there a chance the next version of this rom will have CIQ removed? I am even willing to try to learn the coding and help in any way i can (that goes for anything too... if you need someone to beta test hit me up). I love ACE. super fast. great battery life. full functionality (no bugs at all for me so far). There is only one rom i am aware of (midnight) that has CIQ removed, and i have not tried it to be able to comment on it. I like THIS rom though, and really have no interest in switching (the ONLY tempting rom to try is cyan, but i have that on my tablet so i think ill stick to ACE on my phone to keep things different). Ive done a lot of reading that CIQ dramatically slows the phone down and sucks battery life, and isnt needed to run android by default, but sprint strong arms samsung into putting their spy software into the very roots of android to ensure they have their hand and eyes into everything we do. I want it gone haha. Just wondered if you had any plans to remove it eventually. thanks!

Is there a fix or should I start over on this. I really like the rom don't get me wrong its just I like my apps and wish to have the phone not restart every couple of mins.

This is very unlike anything I've heard of on ACE to this point. Even on other EB13 ROMs too.. Let me ask what methods did you use to get to this point of flashing ACE? How did you root and install CWM3/EXT4? Is there any changes you have made to Ace since flashing it? Apps removed/installed.?

Depending on your response, I would say to wipe 3x and reflash the ROM. With the provided kernel on v1.7 even at it's stock setting you should be running at a respectable speed and not have connectivity issues.

Yes that would be a nice fix, although that is definitely out of my scope of knowledge. Have you ever tried the Galaxy Tab Email app? I'm not sure what it exactly does since I've never used it. I provided a restore stock email zip too if you want to try the GTab Email and need to restore back.

UPDATE: I really like the look of the Galaxy Tab email app, but it just doesn't seem to always update my accounts. I had to remove my two exchange accounts and set them back up, but then it tried reloading email and i was getting a yellow "Connection Error" bar at the top after it loaded a few emails.

@traumahawk, yes I have the files required to make the switch to having the CIQ removed. I am planning on using it in the next release of ACE. I am working on a few more things before I do the next release.

Also besides midNIGHT, Bonsai and ACS/Syndicate are the two ROMs and devs behind the CIQ removal process and its success to this point so those are also worth taking for a test drive for a day or two. I have used Bonsai 3.0.1 for a few days and its working pretty good. No issues on my part to report.

thats awesome! bonsai is cool but it just.. idk.. doesnt have the feel i like, maybe? idk how to say it. just didnt work for me. (I did however like a few little things, like the font, which DOES NOT work in eb13/ACE... really screwed things up actually). i like ACE. (im always willing to try things, but when i find something i like i stick with it).

where can i go to learn how to be a dev myself?... learn to make my own roms/themes/flashable zips (like fonts, boot animations, etc etc etc)??? i have been browsing online and cannot find any real sources to point me in the right direction. idk what language android is even written in... i want to learn. really want to learn.

I always suggest a wipe when flashing any ROM. Even those supporting the auto backup and restore that Bonsai developed still have occasional issues where some have to still go back and wipe and flash again.

Some people have done updates by simply flashing over the existing and had success, and others haven't.

I will have any further details at the time of release of the next update.

the wiping isnt really an issue.. just back up your UI settings with adw or titanium (i use adwlauncher ex). as soon as you boot up your new flashed version you just restore everything. takes like an extra few mins but its worth not having to go through and redo it all again later to fix glitches.

and I still get this: script aborted (no error message) E:Error in /sdcard/ACE_ROM_1.7.zip.

I have cleared the cache 3X, wipe data/factory reset...what is going on?

- You should not have to change/include the underscores. It should flash as is.

- Have you successfully flashed any other ROMs since converting to EB13 CWM3.0.0.6/EXT4?

- Possible that your sdcard has something wrong, bad sectors, etc. ? I have had to error check mine before and fix a bug or two after pulling the cable without properly disconnecting from my laptop.

Not pointing fingers at you but after well over 700 downloads of ACE v1.7 I believe this is only the 2nd or 3rd problem involving flashing the ROM. Any other information you can provide, please do.
