Been working on a ROM updater today. Reminds me why I'm a server dev not a GUI dev.... the GUI stuff is a pain. But hopefully I can at least make it decent looking.
The updater is shaping up. Got a functional (but not pretty) UI, ROMs can be downloaded, and I just got my first successful rdiff application.
Note rdiff is a way to take a file plus a delta and create a new file. This allows one to apply a "patch" to an existing ROM to create a new, updated ROM. For example, full AOSP a10pre2 ROM is 87M, while the delta from AOSP a10pre1 is about 20M. So if you have a10pre1 downloaded, the updater will fetch the delta and save 67M of data transfer. The size of the deltas varies though .. this was a nice example, but don't expect many deltas for quatttrimus to be that small. On the other hand, as development slows, the deltas will tend to shrink. I expect that IHO deltas would routinely be under 10M, if the IHO devs were to adopt this.
How is the development on the ICS recovery?
Also, how is the development on the 3.0 kernel?
I haven't worked on the kernel in a while but I'll get back to it in time.
I'm not working on a recovery. What would be the motivation?
Oh I thought u were making a recovery for the auto-updater![]()
No I don't think that is necessary. But if I get fancy, I might make my roms update without going into recovery at all.![]()
Hey TDM, any news on if a10 final will fix all the force close issues with various apps? Looking forward to this rom being as stable as CAI. I'd much rather use this as a daily driver, instead of a sprint rom.

First... Take a few big, calming breaths. I know a borked phone is really frustrating. Next, read Leslie's guide in the link below. There is a lot of information and a lot of links within the information to MORE information. I don't know just what ROM manager has done to your phone as I have never used it, so I can't be much help on the details of fixing your phone.
The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to READ, READ, READ before you make any major change to your phone. Don't stop at the original post. Look further in to see what problems other users have faced and how they were fixed. Take notes. Make a checklist of the steps you will be taking so you don't forget something.
Can you provide us with some details of what you do have working? Does your recovery work? Do you have a back-up you can revert to? Does your current ROM boot? Do you have ADB access from a PC? The more detail you can provide, the better service you -should- expect.
And one last thing - If you have something negative to share, share the FACTS only - no negative opinions. To say that anything sucks on here is not constructive and gives us NO clue as to what is not working.
Best of luck!!
