[ROM] Android Open Kang Project

Last I heard wiping things more than once is just a time waster, has anyone actually done some scientific research on this yet? Here is what cvpcs had to say about wiping last June: Still Loading ... ? blog:2011-06-05:time_to_wipe_data:cache

dunno but there were some issues with htc thunderbolt at least, rumored, dunno how real they were. anyway, force of habit, and dalvik wipes take like a second, so i just do it a few times.

i did a factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik x3, and format /system. no issues so far.

I only wiped dalvik once and yep, no issues either.

Edit: Even though Roman said that wipes were not necessary for some build changes, I believe that on these forums, we should strongly encourage it on the OP for new users.

I always wipe everything ,tho cwm factory/data, cache.dalvik, plus in mounts and storage : format system, format data, format cache ,just to double up on the wiping stuff .

It doesnt take me long to reset-up after a total clean install and worth the extra bit of time it takes .I rather do it that way then install over the top of an older version just to be sure :)

Yeah, wiping definitely helps if you have weird problems. I tried flashing 26 last night over 25 and my Google account disappeared and I couldn't connect to Google's servers. Wiping fixed that, but if I was new to roms I might think that was the rom's fault and not mine.

I just had a few issues. Google pics in gallery wouldn't load, then chrome showed blacked out pages, then I tried to quit some running apps and settings fc'd, some mms wouldn't send.
Anyway, fixed with a reboot. If it comes up again I'll nand back to b25 I guess.

For those AOKP users, is there any features out there that you're waiting for that havent been implemented yet? I would like to see a built in transparent status bar mod that works on the launcher and the lock screen.

Anybody have issues with gmail after flashing this?

I have all of the correct settings, but it just won't sync even though it's checked off under the sync menu. I'm not getting any notifications when I get emails which is irritating. Only issue I've had with this otherwise excellent rom.

Any ideas?

Did you flash the Gapps package that was listed along with the ROM download? Gmail has been synching fine for me.

I did.

Think I should just flash gapps again? Can I do that without wiping everything?

In my experience, flashing after a full wipe is a better approach. You can try just wiping cache and Dalvik but be prepared to try a full data wipe if your issues don't go away.

After performing your wipes, flash the ROM and Gapps, then reboot.

Edit: did you verify the md5 checksums for the ROM and Gapps?

If I remember correctly, this feature was/is in the CND rom? Or was it from another rom? Anyways, what does this feature do?

Yeah it was added in codename .It allows you to select the hours the sound will be on/off on your notifications and emails.thumbnail attached below showing that :)

Initial thoughts on Build 27, much faster than 26 while using Lean kernel and Jakebites tweaks. The battery is draining fast but probably has to do with my setup. I did a full wipe before updating. High recommendation to install this right away. If it matters, using Mirror #2.

Update: I read over on Rootzwiki that using both swap and zram does not cause battery drain, so feel free to have those enabled in the Lean tweaks settings. If you get weird drainage, it could be a rouge app of yours or you forgot to uncheck NFC like I did and sign out of GTalk.
