Making a backup and will flash build 37 during lunch.

Okay, so has anyone else had problems loading the AOKP website in the last week or so? I will get it successfully on occasion but most of the time I get a "connection reset" error.

Ridiculous amounts of traffic? :P

I only have trouble loading it on the chrome beta browser on my phone. It works on the normal browser on stock ICS and on my computer.

The site was slow when I accessed it from my computer, but was able to download build 37 directly to my phone without any problem.

Trying out this ROM for the first time and love it. One question for those of you that have been using it for some time...Are new versions ever released where the dev says a wipe is NOT needed when coming from the previous version, or is the data wipe always recommended?

Yes, that does happen occasionally, particularly with nightly builds.

Kinda shocked the original poster of this thread is trying out the rom for the first time :0

AOKP is da bestest. Although I am still on m5 and plan to be for the forseeable future.

Try doing morphr on top of it if just for the beats audio.

Lately, the instructions have been that a wipe is either required or highly recommended. With some prior builds, the instructions would say a wipe wasn't needed if you were upgrading from a certain version, but haven't seen that in a while.

I generally do not wipe data unless the instructions say it's required and have been fine. But I know that I'm risking issues and know how to deal with them so I am willing to take my chances with dirty flashing.

Well, I got highjacked into being the OP. It started out with me just starting a thread asking how people liked the ROM (after I stumbled across it on Rootz). Then a mod changed my thread title and made it look like I created the main "come and get it" ROM thread.

Anyway, I finally installed it (got tired of waiting too long for DT to upgrade CMPLX...awesome ROM dev, but he's got too many things going for one person to keep up with), and it's great!

Like I said try doing morphr on top of aokp. Has all of dt's go fast script stuff, beats audio, sony bravia engine, etc etc, but its still aokp.

Interesting thing is there are so many other good roms. Gummy, Sourcery, Liquid, Bamf, Eclipse, Bugless, Apex, the list goes on and on. But yeah aokp is at the top of the heap.

I'm new to AOKP from CNA. Is there a 4G toggle? Couldn't find it. Is there a way to get into setting fromt he notification bar?

I would never, ever save system data or app data. Here's why--a rom is unique. You'll "build" data differently from rom to rom; therefore, applying the old buildup of data to the new rom may present a variety of issues (force closes, crashes, etc.). Why risk it to save your levels of Angry Birds, ya know? (Not saying you are lol)

I know there are apps out there that save stuff like call logs, texts, etc.; those seem fine, and I know of several colleagues that use them. But when it comes to app data in TiBu, it's not worth it. I always restore apps without data, and by doing that, I don't run the risk of having any hidden demons in my device.

TiBu seems to keep messing me up trying to leave Bugless and try something new. First had issue with trying to do a Nandroid, fixed that thanks to AC members help and now trying AOKP was short lived too. I wiped data and all, Flashed M5, GAPPS and Franco M3 then rebooted (Pink unicorn was cute) phone was snappy and all. Activated phone and it didn't ask to us Google to restore apps, Liquid did when I tried to load that few weeks back. Loaded TIbu and did a run batch of all apps and data. Reading the few post above, looks like I made a mistake and should of done MISSING apps, due to the ROM having its own GAPPS. loaded. I did notice running SMS restore was causing my boot loops but I think it was TiBu restore. I'll try it again tonight. Sad to see Pete not update Bugless, I'm sure he may return if we see 4.0.5 or something?!

so if I am not having issues with my phone should I worry about the latest updates I have build 36? or wait awhile to flash a updated rom. even with nova to restore apps i still need to set up emails and ringtones, sound effects.
on a quick not why do they not include the gapps in the rom?

Xanth

Legal reasons. CyanogenMod included them ages ago, got a cease and desist letter from Google. Therefore, most of the "big devs" stay away.

Hm. Does AOKP (or at least, milestone 5) have an issue with the notification light, or something? I have it turned on in the settings (and I did modify some of the options for it in the ROM control), but it doesn't blink. When I was stock, it'd blink, and it'd even be different colors for things like Facebook, and whatnot.

It shouldn't. Are you sure everything is synced? Is there an app like Light Flow overriding it?

Nope, tried Light Flow when the Nexus first came out, and it seemed really buggy to me, so I haven't installed it since. Otherwise, all my settings, and whatnot, are set exactly like they were when I was still stock.

Interesting. Why not try wiping cache/dalvik, then going to your accounts and unsyncing then syncing. See if that does anything?
