[ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.5.5 [Full Open Source]

Sorry if this has been covered, but I'm a bit new to this device. I'm running Codename 1.5 and really liking it, but I'd like to upgrade to 4.0.4 to see if my data switching issues can be improved. Is there a way to do that on Codename, or I have to wait until there's a newer version? Thanks.

There are very few ROMS that based on 4.0.4. You might try just flashing the radios. If you do want to try a 4.0.4 based ROM, I would highly recommend Crossbreed.

Thanks. Not really feeling like experimenting with radios unless they're known to be stable and fix the problem. Otherwise, I can just wait for the ROM to get updated.

I've had a Nexus since late December and have used the new radios since leak. Very stable and it does wonders for picking up the network, which is the only reason why I'm typing this on 4g in my bed.

The 4.0.4 radios are known to be stable. Lots of people using them. I can't say whether they will fix your problem. But flashing the new radios is probably "safer" than flashing a 4.0.4 based ROM.

Flashed 4.0.4 successfully... can't wait to see how this affects my data dropping issues. So far it seems like it's holding data pretty steadily.

I apologize for not reading through the last 70+ pages. I'm on stock ICS and am trying to figure out what benefits I'd get by going with this ROM.

It just offers you the right amount of customization while maintaining the smooth feel of ICS. There are other roms like Crossbreed that offer A LOT of customization but to me, Codename gives you that while feeling stable and smooth. Throw on something like Franco's kernel and you get much better battery life and additional options there for extending it (some of these options can also be found in rom's like Codename and Crossbreed)

I think you get a more stable experience with improved battery life and signal quality even without from this ROM even without flashing Kernels and radios.

Codename Android 1.5.5 has been released :)
Gapps included in the Rom this time

I was wondering how battery life compares. Sounds like at least same or better than stock. And I assume that future versions (4.0.4 and on) will be supported by this ROM?

I appreciate the reply greatly. I'll have to investigate how important messing with such settings is to me (I'm pretty happy with stock ICS and have even tried Nova and Apex launchers just to go back to stock).

It sucks that I just flashed 1.5 yesterday after giving Crossbreed and CM a try but after checking out some other ROMs, it's easy to come back to Codename, especially after reading the changelog.

In 1.5.5 I've had the apps in two of my folders randomly rearrange themselves a couple of times. Each time both folders were affected and only those folders so far. Very odd.

Yeah, I've had that too. But, I think it happened with 1.5 or 1.4 as well (I can't remember which 'cause I only had each one for a few days each).
