[ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.1.0 -Stable

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-Alpha 5

I think this version on my girlfriends Epic runs better than my Bugless Beast on my Nexus S 4g. I might have to try CM9 on my Nexus S 4g. She loves it. Thanks for all the info in the first post.

Can i use the tar flashable modem in CWM??

NO.......you can flash zips from CWM ONLY; modem.bin files (or tar files) are ODIN only...........remember to power off device + set to 'download mode' prior to connecting microUSB cable to PC right before ODINing your modem (from off, hold dwn '1' from keyboard as well as power button to go into download mode).

*edit: you may flash Delta Modem Update zip files via CWM; as FB15 is a leak, don't think we have a zip for this.

***EDIT: If your are on an MTD ROM --CM9, for example-- you are on CWM5.5.0.4........you do NOT want to flash a Delta modem update using THIS version of CWM........INSTEAD, you may download wtogami's Temporary BML Recovery (link on OP).......from CWM5..5.0.4 you will flash the temp recovery zip, this boots you to a temporary BML recovery where you may flash your Delta modem update; when complete, you reboot to system + are back to CM9 (w/ new modem!) w/out having used ODIN whatsoever........tight, huh?!?! Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-Alpha 5

The issue is you went to stock bml and calibrated, you need to calibrate while on an mtd tw rom and do it 3 or 4 times make sure its rotating then go to cm9. If you do it on a bml partition when it converts to mtd that's where the problem lies in. Clean GB mtd should work just fine.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll give this a shot and see what happens.

So, I flashed CleanGB and did the calibration 4 times there. I verified that auto-rotate worked fine there. Then I wiped and flashed CM9 alpha5. I turned on all the auto-rotate settings and verified it still did not work. Back to the drawing board....

Really? That worked for me spot on after fighting with it for over a week. You did flash a clean install right? Sorry dude :what:

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-Alpha 5

i have an epic 4g on revol wireless. I have data working but it is only 1x as revol does not support 3g until sometime later this year. My data works on cleang gb rom mtd but when i flashed the cm9 alpha 5 my data does not work, only wifi works. Granted with 1x data its useless but still in a pinch better then nothing when wifi not available....

thank for the great work... even more so when we dont have official android 4 to work with....

......if you can power off the device, then boot to download mode (press '1' on keyboard + power button simultaneously) you should be able to get your phone back to good working order.........try this, then pull the battery to get out of download mode back to 'off'...........get a good charge overnight, then in the a.m., try to restore a nandroid backup if able to boot into recovery; otherwise.........ODIN wipe/restore back to stock (EL30,EC05) + ODIN CWM, flash su, then you can flash Clean GB/MTD......CHECK YOUR DATA + SETTINGS (minimally).........NANDROID + finally straight to CM9beta0/new gapps (after wipe data/factory settings in recovery)...........let us know how things turn out?

sonarchist, what CWM version are you running? I'm on version 5.5.0.2. I read HERE that ver. 5.5.0.4 is having problems with CM9. Can I install this one or is there a specific one for Epic 4G somewhere else?? Thanks for your help!!

**edit** nevermind I'm on 5.5.0.4, lol!

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-Alpha 5

the gapps link appears to be broken. tried downloading the file twice, each time taking over 40mins to download. then tried reinstalling only to get an installation aborting message. does anyone know if theres a diffferent link to try downloading the gapps file?

ah ha!!!!!!! victory is mine...... downloaded it a 3rd time and it finally worked!

If I'm coming from alpha 5 to beta do i need to reinstall gapps again? On the install guide it says update gapps is required, but I'm not sure if that's only for fresh installs or not. Thanx!

YES, download gapps from the link below beta0, then flash it right after beta before reboot to system..........if you're already on CM9, then from recovery just wipe cache + dalvik prior to flashing........your data will migrate to beta0.
..........for those of you coming from another ROM, 'wipe data/factory reset' is required prior to flashing (do NOT restore data from prior nandroids)............please refer to install instructions on OP.

@GrooveRite,

good thing that you posted this.......it's rather important to remember: those of us running the MTD system (this would include cyanogenMod variants) are on CWM5.5.0.4 Recovery + therefore NOT able to flash modem update Delta zips directly from here............however, Epic CM Team member wtogami has created an easy + nifty temporary BML Recovery that everyone on CM9 should know about..............here's how it works:

For those trying to get visual voicemail working, check out the xda forum page for beta0. Someone extracted the sprint voicemail app from a leaked ics build for epic touch. Seems to be working for me so far.
