[ROM] midNIGHT ROM v4.2 (BYOR Edition) CW3 Redirector/EXT4 and CIQ Removed 3/9/2011

I believe this is the same battery mod you see in the midNIGHT screen shot. Its basically the stock battery meter with a accurate battery percentage displayed in the middle of the icon.

Only way to "switch" color status bar/notification is to have a different colored one to flash.

As always, make a backup in CWM just in case of the unknown. Then flash the file below.

Stock Framework w/stock battery meter w/percentage display (Flash in CWM2)

Enjoy.

Quick question, I DL'd the *.zip onto my PC drive and have already transferred it to the root directory of my epic's SD card - I thought I would take a quick peak inside the zip file you made for me before I install it - I noticed that you referenced twframework-res.apk (referencing maybe the stock TouchWiz Launcher?) - Question, if it does, does it make any difference that I use Launcher Pro instead?

Thanks Again!

No it doesn't that is still required part of the os. I put it in there just so everything gels right when you flash it. You can still use LP.

I just installed it and it goes vibrate, vibrate x3, then vibrate - and then repeated the sequence, then I did a vol down+camera+pwr, then vol up+camera+pwr for a reboot.

I will reflash again - maybe that will help - I will keep you informed

The Problem: The battery icon shows the percentage as intended, it's just that it fails to get to the final boot screen before the vibrating starts and when you do use the slider to unlock the screen, it gives this error below:

The error: The application com.sec.android.providers.downloads) has stopped unexpectively. Please try again!

Edit 1: I tried to reflash again, it didn't work, rebooted a couple of different ways, still no go, so I restored the nandroid backup that I had made prior and everything is back to old normal.

I never used the cmw nandroid restore before, I was afraid it wouldn't restore properly, so far so good time to test to make sure everything is restored correctly.

Any suggestions? - could it be the other battery program that is somehow interfering?

Edit 2: fyi the battery program I use Motalen's BatteryTime 4.0 located at motalen.com

I realized now you were on stock Froyo EB13 and just rooted/cwm2.5.1.0. In order to flash themes, etc. you need to flash the deodexed version of Froyo EB13. Then you can flash custom themes, battery mods, etc... That is why your getting the boot loops, etc.

Froyo EB13 Pre-Rooted, Deodexed, with Clockwork - RFS & EXT4

I think there are some programs or maybe the camera patch that is not compatible with EXT4 unless it is burned into a rom. I do not want to flash to get into flashing roms just yet.

I Dl'd a One ClickOdexer and Restoration Tool - wonder if that would Deodex my EB13?

Oh well, I will do some more reading - don't want to screw up my daily driver - next weekend probably, unless I get brave with some extra time.

Thanks for all your help - I'll Be Back! - Arnold :)

Paul627g and all those that are interested in a 1% battery mod for your stock Epic EB13 Odexed and a stock kernel and have been rooted with cmw 2.5.1.0 - the battery mods at this link work perfect, no need to change roms or kernels, no need to use or upgarde too cmw 3.0.0.5 and don't need to DeOdexed, go here: [APP][MOD] 8 Custom Batteries for All Roms! -Give Me Your Requests!- - xda-developers

I flashed the standard one (the one I have been looking for) and it works perfect so far, will know if I run into any strange problems after more time with it - but so far so good.

Trying to upgrade 4.2 over 4.1, and three times now it's gotten to the following error message:

"script aborted (no error message)E:Error in /sdcard/midNIGHT ROM v4.2(BYOR Edition).zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted"

At this point consider a few things..

1. Possibly a bad download (rare but does happen)
2. sdcard going bad or may have errors, needs a repair ran on it.
3. Make sure you wipe 3x.

I am having trouble with the 4.2 upgrade as well, and have gone as far back now as using ODIN to go to stock EB13 and rerooting with EXT 4... I have installed 4.2 straight, and tried to go from 4.0 to 4.1 to 4.2... the issue is twofold... firstly, as soon as I flash any of the midNIGHT ROMs now, I cannot get USB to connect, though it works fine on stock... so in this scenario, while I can get through 4.1 upgrade, I cannot get back into my SD after that to install 4.2... the one time I did get 4.2 to install I had force closes so I figured I'd do a manual upgrade...

Also, I have flashed 4.0 and 4.2 both several times, and neither installs anything resembling the standard upgrade package in the extras folder... was this removed? Can anyone replicate?

Thx much for any help as this is driving me nuts...

1) Make sure you are Rooted with NEW CW3.0.0.6 OneClick by Dameon (If not already)

2) This will flash the EB13 modem if you are coming from DI18. If your on DK28 then you need to odin the EB13 modem or go back to DI18.

3) Copy the midNIGHT ROM v4.2 (BYOR Edition) to your SD card.

4) Delete the current ?midNIGHT ROM Extras? folder from your SD Card

5) Boot into CW3 (Let it covert. This will only happen if your on RFS)

6) Flash midNIGHT V4.2 and reboot (THIS WILL NOT WIPE DATA and DOES BACK UP AND RESTORE)
7) The Process WILL TAKE ABOUT 5 MINUTES TO FLASH SO DON?T PANIC. Also you will sit on the Samsung screen for at least a minute.

8) Using Quickboot, boot back into CW3

9) Navigate to the midNIGHT ROM Extras folder and flash individual zips to build you custom ROM.

and/or

10) Navigate to the midNIGHT ROM Extras folder and flash the midNIGHT ROM v4.2 Standard Edition UPGRADE.zip and you will enjoy the ?Typical? or ?Standard? midNIGHT ROM release..

I flashed the car cradle and when i click navigate or maps. Says no activity found.
How do i fix that?

Sent from my pretty dang fast Epic.

I have ODIN'd numerous times... back to stock... to EB13, etc... I just tried a clean install this morning... put EB13 stock on via ODIN, flashed with CW3.0.0.6 to root with EXT 4... cleared all data/caches... deleted midnight extras folder from SD... put Midnight 4.2 on my SD card and flashed... here is what happened, and has happened several times before... it seems to flash fine, reboots, and gets stuck in boot loop... I turn off phone, manually boot to CW3, and look in midnight extras... all that is in there is

Allshare
Bubbles and Raindrops
Default Browser
Default Clock
Epic TW extra LWP
Fascinate Car Cradle
Fasscinate Clock
Fascinate LWP
and Fascinate ringtones...

there is NOTHING else in this folder... no standard package to flash... I did not run into any of these issues on 4.0 and upgrading that to 4.1... all of my issues have arisen around 4.2...

I have painstakingly tried multiple methods to do this and am not a noob at rooting or flashing... I've been with midNIGHT for months, but if I can't get this fixed today, might have to go elsewhere temporarily...

EDIT: I tried again for the umpteenth time, and it actually installed the full extras folder properly... fingers crossed I'm back in business... this install has been a gargantuan pain though... the fact I had to flash 4.2 literally 20 times to get it to work correctly once has me wondering...

Can anyone confirm a battery mod that works with 4.2? It's not obvious from the lostandtired page which are for 4.2 vs 4.1. And I am pretty sure during one or two of my failed installs of 4.2, it was the speedometer battery guage or the blue flame dialer that borked everything (aside from myriad other flashing issues)...

Now that I have 4.2 up and running perfectly, I don't want to risk screwing anything up, so if somebody could confirm which bat mods work that would be great... Thx

Also, if I rooted using 3.0.0.6 and have EXT 4 and am successfully running midNIGHT 4.2, I'm deodexed, right?

I installed Battery Icon Mod the other day and it works good.

I don't see that listed on Rob's blog... is it in the extras folder, or did you find that from an outside source? Thx for the suggestion...

Yes you are deodexed. This shouldn't be a problem installing battery mods. I flashed 2 different themed battery mods while using Bonsai 3.0.0.1. midNIGHT is using the same setup so it should work.
