Like this ROM... battery life is best I've experienced by a long shot on a 2.2 ROM... only thing I notice, at least relative to TrulyEpic, which is pretty barebones, is a very clear lag... I can live with it for the tradeoff in battery life, but curious if anyone else notices this relative to some of the other 2.2 ROMs... other than that, from what I can tell, everything I've tried seems to work reasonably well out of the box...

How do I install the dk28 modem for this via odin?

Are you already running DK28 Froyo? If you are then you already have the proper DK28 modem. Just follow the devs instructions from there.

If you not on DK28 Froyo then that is your first step before moving onward to this or any other DK28 based ROM.

What launcher are you using on this ROM?

Took your advice from another thread and downloaded and flashed zip for that AM launcher from TrulyEpic... personally, I find it to lag a little bit relative to laucherpro, but it's done this on all the ROMs I've tried it on, not just this one... I find a general lag to this ROM above and beyond the launcher... that said, it's not always noticeable and I am definitely getting the best battery life I've experienced with 2.2 using this midNIGHT ROM...

I'm having a hard time deciding whether I like this rom + amlauncher better than trulyepic. I've gone back and forth a couple of times and I also notice a slight but present lag on this rom, but I don't think its bad enough for me to not use it. Plus, unlike trulyepic on my phone, I can actually update my profile and PRL with this ROM. kudos!

I hear you... I'm hanging with midNIGHT for the timebeing to see what percolates with final 2.2 and beta 2.3 over the next couple of weeks. The main differentiating factor for me is better battery life on midNIGHT, even though TrulyEpic was a little smoother in general.

thanks for the input. I definitely am considering switching.

question - I installed 2.2 via briefmobile link &am now using trulyepic ROM. I saw n the directions that u must install DK28 via Odin. Can I install this ROM via wiping cache, or do I need 2 do something else?

as an update...i loaded autokiller memory with this rom and set it to "aggressive" and the lag is completely gone. at this point it seems as fast as trulyepic to me. I wish this had amlauncher built in, but adding the .zip after the fact is no biggie. my only question is where did google talk go? for some reason i get the notifications that i have a message but i can't for the life of me find that program anywhere

You should be fine, just wipe and then flash your ROM.

thank you so much for adding gtalk back into this ROM. I'm using it right now and it rules. I can say now that this is my favorite ROM currently available (though I've done a little bit of tweaking on my own so its not totally "stock", per se).

Great work!

the theme is specifically to fix the battery gauge so my guess is that you'd need to do it regardless. someone please correct me if i'm wrong there

OK. So w/this update, I must install/run 2 files - 1 ROM (Midnight), & the Midnight theme. Do I have to use this theme? I like LauncherPro.

You can still use Launcher Pro with the theme. But no, the theme is not required - try it without the theme and if you like it you can keep it that way.

OK I tried this - although I did not go to 2.2 via Odin. So the installation and wipe/cache went good. But when I went to reboot, it took over 10 minutes & was still idling. I removed the battery and attempted to power-on again.... same results. I was uncomfortable and restored TrulyEpic ROM. How long should it take to reboot?

It takes me forever on most ROMs I flash... I usually get stuck at boot up screen after a few minutes... take out battery, wait 10 seconds, then reboot... it still takes a bit, but ALWAYS eventually boots into the new ROM... I've never gotten stuck a second time... might want to try a reflash... sounds like something might have been corrupted...

Should take 3 minutes at the most. Did you do a restore of some backup?

I was able to restore back to TrulyEpic. I did have a small problem installing the zip file to my SD card. I had to retry 3 times. Would it make a difference that I installed the ROM and midnight theme before rebooting? Should I install the ROM, then go into Clockwork and install the theme?

I was wondering if I should just wait until the 26th when the official froyo is expected to be released.
