Yes, it does make a difference. When installing a ROM you should always boot into it at least once before flashing a theme.

I was able to restore back to TrulyEpic. I did have a small problem installing the zip file to my SD card. I had to retry 3 times. Would it make a difference that I installed the ROM and midnight theme before rebooting? Should I install the ROM, then go into Clockwork and install the theme?

OK. I installed the ROM only and it seems good so far.
Thanks so much for your help!! I will be an Android Geek in not time reading these thereds. :D

One last question: Am I correct that I need to install the Theme file to get a more accurate battery meter/reader?

The developer suggests flashing the theme to "fix the battery gauge." If you don't want the theme you can flash one of these stand alone battery meter mods.

Update: v2.0.9

The previous ROM works great on my phone. If I install/run 2.09, I know that I will have to reset my widgets, but is there a way to keep my LauncherPro Dock? I have LauncherPro Plus & backed-up my homescreen & settings. Will this do the trick.

Thanks.

If LauncherPro backs up to your SD card, then it should be an easy restore after flashing the new ROM.

Great job on 2.09... GPS and 4G working well, and the lag seems a little better than 2.07... too early for me to comment yet on battery, but seems decent so far... happy holidays all... looks like 26th for Froyo is probably not going to happen, so we especially appreciate the hard work of you chefs, especially the ones that have figured out to start pumping out custom kernels...

I'm running 2.1.1 and am having a problem w/email FC. My GMail is working fine. I also installed the Midnight theme 2.08, but I failed to check email prior to installation of this theme. So Idk if it's the theme or the ROM causing the problem. Anyone else having this problem??

UPDATE: I wiped & went back to 2.09. I will wait a little longer on this update.

The email changed a bit - just wipe your gmail cache and its hould be fine.

Damn, I'm loving the 2.1 edition, I'm afraid I'll eff up the kernel installation to try 2.2 out.

The kernel is flashed just like any other kernel, it's formatting your file system from RFS to EXT4 that is the hurdle. I can do a write up of what I did if you like.

I'd appreciate it, man. Whenever you get the time, I will be patient trying to update this haha. I love midNIGHT so much. Cyanogen is okay, I think it'll be fantastic once it's stable and final.

OK. I recently installed ROM 2.1.1 and love it now that I figured out the email situation.

But, for us Android noobies - what is EXT4 and how does it improve the non-EXT4 platform?

Is there a link to the 2.2 non-EXT4 update for those that may not want it? I saw the link earlier, but the OP updated the link to 2.2 w/EXT4 and I did not get a chance to d/l it.

thanks.

UPDATE: OK I found out what the EXT4 does via (http://forum.androidcentral.com/epic-4g-roms-hacks/51423-epic-lag-fix-rfs-ext4-conversion.html) and feel a little insecure about doing this process. Should I stick w/2.1.1 ROM for now?

If you don't want to go through the process of converting to EXT4, then yes you should stick with v2.1.1.

There is no v2.2non-ext4. EXT4 is the standard going forward. You only need to install the EXT4 once after that you flash as usual (EXT4 supported ROMS only)
