[ROM][MOD][4.4.2][EXPERIMENTAL] KitKat OS2SD

So I now have TWRP ported, I'll be testing it today. So far it can mount both internal and external and has all the features (just did a backup). I still need to modify the format sd option to instead format a os2sd partition layout, and possibly format internal as swap. I might also see if I can make an option to change the default mounts so that you can select an internal or external install, but so far I can't see why anyone would chose internal over os2sd with how little room internal has...

I'm going to upload the barely tested recovery to my site now for the impatient types.

A quick question. In the rom directory I see zips and md5s. What do the md5s do? Do I have to download them as well as the zips?

md5sum, a checksum which you compare the downloaded rom against to see if the download got corrupted. those are text files with the md5sum in them. no /need/ to download them, they're a safeguard.

Okay, I have a recovery issue here. I just flashed your CWM 6.0.4.6 and at the bottom of the recovery it says stuff like unable to mount /cache/recovery/command, unable to open /cache/recovery/lastinstall and some other files. What does this mean?

Looking at all the sd-ext code built into cm and the recoveries by default, I'm wondering if it's a good idea to bump /data to mmcblk0p4 and put cache back on mtd. that still leaves 2 mtd partitions to play with for swap or whatever. then the move-to-sd stuff wouldn't crash even if it is pointless, and there wouldn't be all those missing directory errors in recovery for sd-ext, and recovery's factory reset wouldn't wipe data-ext when resetting internal.

Before I use gparted, should I insert the sd into my optimus v to format it?
I even formatted mine with gparted in the phone through the cable. In CWM recovery mount USB storage. Unmount the card directories in gparted instead of the file manager (nautilus or whatever.) MAKE SURE you know it's the right device before you partition. I've fragged my PC hard drive that way...
Format it in the phone and then resize the partition down to leave 2Gb empty, then do the 1024Mb/512Mb/512Mb that seems to work decent. Or leave 3Gb empty, partition ext's at 2048Mb/512Mb/512Mb if you've got room and think you can use multiple Gb of /data space.

For a 32 gb class 10 I like some space for apps in /data so can I do 15gb /data 7.5gb /system and 7.5 gb /cache?

you still need a FAT32 partition to keep android happy. No VFAT, no camera, mms up/download, etc.
I had over 40 apps installed and hadn't yet used 256Mb of /data.
Full Gapps including the armv7 stuff that FC's all the time are around 200Mb on /system. So, between the <200Mb ROM + 200Mb mostly useless Gapps= 400Mb /system. Still enough room for a little Gingerbread ROM in there at 512Mb /system. And 512Mb /cache is still over 3x stock.
I would advise huge VFAT partition and only 1Gb (2Gb max) for /data. Unless you're going to cram a desktop Linux in there to chroot with (which might not even work anymore with all the kitkat security) you shouldn't need over 2Gb even if you download half the Play store.

@skinbark: I have revisted your earlier suggestion about using mtd partitions with OS2SD... I think at least cache should probably sit there, because of the /sd-ext partition 2 being assumed by so many apps/mods/cm itself.
TechVendetta is messing with swap on mtd.
I think cache and swap. As a use for the 3rd internal partition, any multiboot ROMS should probably come off of the card instead of internal. Use one internal partition for multiboot flags and unpacked ramdisks maybe?
Opinions?
