Success! It's been a long day but I have rooted, kerneled, and flashed my way to my first ROM. Thanks all!

Huge thank you to the developers. This ROM singlehandedly brought me from hating my phone and its constant low memory warnings to loving it again. 100 megs free!

my phones been off charger since friday night! with (light to moderate use) it is sunday night and i have 29% left...beautiful!

damn since friday night now thats a lie i only get lik 10 - 12 hours on a charge:-X

i dont get paid off the rom! lol y would i lie to endorse it lol.....and still no charge and phone is running...the longest its gone since ive own the phone.

It doesn't count if you use, other apps like juice defender. When I was on cm7 I was getting like 20+ but on this I get like 10 but I'm not complaining this is a sweet rom otherwise thx a ton guys

No juice defender or any task killers whatsoever here. Just android with a kick ass ROM. :p

ZOMFG!

This ROM is perhaps the fastest, snappiest, most smoothest ROM I have ever run by this phone!

I've gone thru ThundeROM (thoroughly), AOSP CM7, and Zefie's CM7 (for this past month). I must say that I thought I'd revert to an Android 2.2 ROM on a whim and out of boredom and am exceedingly happy I did so.

That being said, also, I am exceedingly appreciative of all the work done to make this ROM possible. I am seriously only 30 minutes into playing around with this ROM (as of writing) and must say that it has completely reinvented my device, easily delivering a better android experience.

I am upgrading to a Samsung Epic 4G and tear up at the thought of leaving such an awesome entry level android phone that was made even more awesomer by all the devs and tweakers who put their sweat into developing solid ROMs and tweaks.

Thank you Nick7, KYSmithNY, Zefie, all other rom devs/tweakers, and the entire LG Opti S AndroidCentral forum community. :)

A far as upgrading to a new version, you might not have to worry at all, unless there's a major change (i.e., a simple cache wipe is often all it takes). If there's a major software update (new version from lg that this rom is then updated to), then that often requires wiping and starting fresh.

To back up, you correctly identified 2 common methods, nandroid (in recovery) and titanium. Nandroid will make an entire snapshot image of your phone, which can then be restored later (helpful when flashing a new version or trying a new rom).

Titanium will backup your apps and their applicable data (i.e., your progress on angry birds). Use caution when restoring those apps on vastly different roms (android 2.2 vs 2.3) as you might run into issues from time to time.

Finally, regarding contacts, I highly suggest just storing all your contacts in gmail, it makes life so much easier never worrying about contacts being backed up.

Thank you so much for the detailed reply!
I did bite the bullet near the EOL for my Treo Pro and start doing the "exchange sync" with my gmail. So thankfully the contacts thing resolved itself on this phone before I even got into "okay so I have to export from Outlook?" part.

Good to know about the upgrade instructions; hopefully when the next version of this ROM is released there'll be a quick "upgrading is safe, do this method" post :)

Nameless Rom is only supported by software version VD. Press menu then settings then about phone and look at your software version. If it says a VC or V 9 you need to upgrade .

Now that he's flashed Nameless, I'm pretty sure it will say VD regardless, as that's what the buildprop says.

If you are getting those errors though, it probably means you're still on VC or V9. You need to upgrade to VD.

Update your baseband. Any questions, comments, concerns about the process should be directed towards that thread.

I had one question after flashing. I can't seem to find the sprint voicemail thing anymore, and also some icons I used to use that were placed on the homescreen to easily switch from vibrate to loud. Is there a zip I should be looking for that has some of the sprint apps like voicemail or can I just find it in the marketplace?

How to get Visual Voice-mail:
1. Download Google voice from the market
2. When you first launch this app you will be asked to sign in with your Gmail account. If you don't already have a Google voice account this will allow you to make one. If you only want Google voice for visual voice-mail, thats an option as well.

I thought what I had previously was sprint voicemail, not google voicemail. How (or can I even) can I get that sprint voicemail back? Here is what I am talking about. Androinica ? Sprint adds transcription to Visual Voicemail; sadly not as hilarious as Google Voice

Is google voicemail better? I don't know much about non stock programs like voicemail and dialers but I'm always looking for new and better things.

If you want Sprint VVM just follow this post..

There is a stock voicemail application on the nROM website, it *may* work, but I don't know: https://sites.google.com/site/optimusnrom/download

Edit: I just tested the stock voicemail app mentionned above, and it does seem to work fine in this rom and map correctly to the voicemail icon on the dialer. Use it if you want.

I did and it worked for me.
