Well, sounds like the baseband is not VD; problem is if you are checking the baseband after the rom has been flashed all it's doing is reading part of the rom (I believe it's defined in the buildprop) at any rate that means looking in your phone after flashing reborn won't tell you for certain what baseband you are on.

What rom were you running previously (I have a suspicion it will be VC based)

Thanks for the bit of info. I was running Thunderom 1.6.2, which looking now I believe has to be VC based. So I guess I have to update the baseband anyhow. Now, here's a question: Is there a way to do it by memory card alone? My cable went MIA in the recent move I made, but I still have my memory card reader on my pc and that works fine.

I don't think there is a way to update without a cable. You want to update to VD using the LG Updater program which needs to be loaded on your PC. This is best way to update that doesn't mess up your phone's rooting. I was able to pick upan extra cable for around $5.

Not sure where else to ask this question, but how can I get e2fsck running on this Rom? Busybox installer doesn't seem to do it. Unless I'm doing somethin wrong....

If you're wondering why it's taking so long it's because I'm learning how to compile kernels! Woo! I decided to backport the smartass governor after being impressed with it's performance on the g2.

Thanks for the update, Nick! What is the smartass governor and what coolness is it going to bring to the Optimus? :)

smartass governor ? is based on the concept of the interactive governor.
I have always agreed that in theory the way interactive works ? by taking over the idle loop ? is very attractive. I have never managed to tweak it so it would behave decently in real life. Smartass is a complete rewrite of the code plus more. I think its a success. Performance is on par with the ?old? minmax and I think smartass is a bit more responsive. Battery life is hard to quantify precisely but it does spend much more time at the lower frequencies.
Smartass will also cap the max frequency when sleeping to 352Mhz (or if your min frequency is higher than 352 ? why?! ? it will cap it to your min frequency). Lets take for example the 528/176 kernel, it will sleep at 352/176. No need for sleep profiles any more!

And an update from me:
- Finally compiled my very own kernel from picasticks & LGs source code thanks to gbhil and beezy! Smartass governor is functional.
- Hammering out the last few bugs with the cpu governor and refining the last few additions to the UI. Once I feel I get it a good RC out I will put it in the testing stages and release it soon after! I will also be coming out with a changelog soon as well.

One big improvement is battery life, so stay tuned and be patient.

heh, nice rom. Thanks

Just tested static ip and it works fine. phone switched to the static ip and previous dhcp assigned address went offline. static ip is pinging and i'm able to accesss the wifi network for data. I'm on Reborn ROM with NoIQpatch.zip. My wifi access point is apple airport express with WPA2 security

Edit - switched back to DHCP and back to static all good, no issues

Edit2 - My VPN connectivity is broken. Had same issue in ThunderROM, Nameless and now Reborn. I'm unable to connect to my PPTP vpn server

Did you find a solution to this? I can't connect to my PPTP VPN server either and don't want to switch everything around, but if other options are available and working let me know!

Thanks!

Yanno I gotta say that after alot of testing and such it would appear that Reborn does eat battery life at a gnarly rate. After seeing people complain about battery life and having noticed poor battery performance myself I decided to figure it out. Not going to go though everything but long story short I used "System Panel" app to monitor usage and battery life on multiple ROMS. For some reason the CPU use by "system" is much higher when using reborn than others. I am currently using Shell Rom and I am doing a million things at once to try and murder my battery and it still lasts twice as long as it did when using Reborn.

Really sucks cause I love the layout of reborn along with the functionality and customization available but I shouldn't have to charge my phone twice a day due to light usage.

I see that you can change from 5 screens to 7 screens but is there a way to only have one screen with this rom.

I really wanted to use one of the themes in the theme thread. Do the themes work with another launcher

How do you use it with another launcher and that is cool

You don't actually use the themes with the launchers. These themes affect the whole ROM.

Flash a theme of your choice and install which ever launcher(s) you wish. Or Vice Versa for that matter.

Use Home Switcher to switch between launchers if you like.

Nick7-

Quick question;

I know that if I long-press an app icon in the app menu...I can hold and drag it to the Launcher.

However, I notice that if I reboot the device...the launcher reverts to defaults and my app is not there any more.

Have you seen this at all?

The app cannot be on the SD card, you need to move it back to the phone and then it will work.
