Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.1 - 6/23/11

What's the low end of the speed setting for the new kernel? 122 mhz - 768? or 2 something to 768?)

Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.1 - 6/23/11

Someone else will have to answer that one :) I havnt played with it recently

Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.1 - 6/23/11

Haha, before I flashed this it used to drop about 2-2.5% every hour.
Right now it is about 19 hours in and 92% left... :)

I do not know if anybody else has this problem but my wifi seems to be in and out. I think battery life is better like other people have stated. I cannot confirm that my wifi is in and out for sure from this rom.

Instructions to use Reborn ROM:
*MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE FLASHING. THIS IS NOT AN OPTION.*

1. Download Reborn ROM. Do not open it, do not extract it, do not rename it.
2. Place on root of sdcard.
2. Reboot to recovery.
3. Wipe data, cache, and dalvik-cache.
4. Flash Reborn ROM.
5. Reboot and enjoy!
6. Make sure you check out this thread for some awesome themes!

Note: The fast transitions will not take effect until the phone is rebooted after the first boot of a fresh flash. After that first reboot the setting will stick.

Known Bugs specific to this ROM:
  • When booting up after a fresh flash your phone you will receive 2 text messages because of visual voice mail. Just ignore them.
  • Our launcher doesn't play nice with different LCD density's because the PNG's do not scale. Default density is 160. If you'd like to change your density you need to use a different launcher/home replacement. This is not something we are looking into changing.
  • After a full wipe (data, cache, dalvik), when you flash the first time the launcher will try loading a couple widgets we didn't include. Drag the words "Problem loading widget" to the garbage can as if you were deleting the widget. Will only happen after a full wipe and flash. This is something we're looking into either clearing those widgets from the launcher or adding them in to the ROM, not sure. -fixed in V2
  • When finishing adding or editing a contact the application will force close, but fear not the change still occurs. I'm working on a fix for this. - fixed in v2.2.1

Reporting an issue:
If you identify an issue that's not already listed in the bugs section above please do the following.
PLEASE DO NOT REPORT GENEREAL ANDROID/SPRINT/FROYO/LG BUGS.
  • If you are running a custom kernel do not report the issue until you have gone back to the kernel provided with the ROM, and can duplicate the issue.
  • If you are running a task killer/battery saver/app smasher etc etc.... do not report the issue until you have removed the task killer, rebooted your phone, and can duplicate the issue.
  • If you are having an issue with any app that you download from the market or any other source, please do not report the issue to us. There is a very good chance this has little or nothing to do with the ROM and everything to do with that specific app. You should check to see if others on similar ROM's are having an issue with that app. Check to see if the app dev has a bugs list. check to see if the app is compatible with your version of Android. Email the app dev to see if they are aware. Uninstall and reinstall the app. etc... etc... etc...
  • If you are not on our newest version of the ROM AND did not do a full wipe prior to flashing, do not report an issue until you have done so.
  • Do not use this thread as your personal help forum. We understand you may have questions about things that are unrelated to the ROM but you want them answered quick so you post them in here. These types of questions will be moved out of the thread, which requires us to manually intervene, please save us the time. You will notice that the same people who are active in this thread are active in every Optimus thread. Post your question outside of this thread, in the general area for assistance.
EX: How do I mount or unmount my SD card when i connect to a PC? This is a legitimate question, but has nothing to do with the ROM.
  • Duplicate the issue. If you don't know how it happened or how to do it again, neither do we lol
  • Have you rebooted your phone and after reboot can duplicate the issue? If not please do.
  • Post very detailed instructions on how to duplicate the issue, for example:
-Click Menu > Settings > Display
-Un-check "Auto Rotate Screen" then the phone punches me in the face

Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.1 - 6/23/11

@Nick7 re:smartass governor. Just an FYI. In my own brief and admittedly not very exhaustive testing of the smartass governor a while back, I found that the smartass governor consistently was at higher time-averaged frequencies than the ondemand governor. As I didn't perceive any real performance increases, and since I reasoned that average higher frequencies would lead to decreased battery life, I went back to the ondemand governor as my governor of choice. But maybe your tweaks have improved this or maybe there is a newer version of the smartass governor out than what I used? Also, maybe my own low to moderate usage of my phone is why ondemand works better for me?

If anyone has or seen any hard statistics about time-averaged frequencies for smartass vs other governors, that could be very illuminating.

Hmmm, so I noticed image smear at the top of the screen under the toolbar using 2.2 (hadn't downloaded 2.2.1 yet)... when using go launcher ex... Will try to isolate it later...

Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.1 - 6/23/11

wiped dalvik and cache (not data) from 2.1. Flashed it, rebooted phone, let it boot up, rebooted to recovery, flashed "s-jacobs-bright-power-bat-mod-noIQ.zip", and it's been running great since the release!

still love the ROM, never gives me any problems!

Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.1 - 6/23/11

I have fully optimized smartass cpu governor, but plan on fixing bluetooth as well for next release which will be next week some time.

Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.1 - 6/23/11

What was wrong in the current version with the smartass governor? I don't see any problems as of now... just curious...
