Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.2 - 6/28/11

after long periods of no usage such as when i woke up today there's an incredible lag like it has to be woken up first. is this a part of the governor/anyone else experience this? usually i wouldnt have a problem with it but once yesterday and this morning when i was sleeping i received a call and i tried sliding the answer button but the screen was completely non responsive for a good couple of seconds and then it would slide. i THINK it also happened on the regular slide lock screen but i'll have to do some more testing and get back

Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.2 - 6/28/11

not sure ppl reported this yet. for new Reborn Rom v2.2.2, I changed the docked apps (icons) on the launcher bar, but those would not stay once you reboot the phone, will be replaced by what comes with the build.(phone, contacts, text msg and (I forget the other one)

Not a big deal.

coming from reborn, still great rom!

It's not a bug, whatever apps you would like on the dock cannot be stored on your sd card they must be stored on the internal memory

Just be sure to read each post fully before doing anything. ;)

In the post sblood referred you to, at the very top it says "If you already are rooted and have a custom recovery in place you can easily move from the V9/VC baseband to the newest VD update without having to re-root, or reinstall any of your apps"

So you should be good, you will not lose root, data, or anything by using this method. Good luck.

Well before I went ahead and tried to update the baseband I decided to try updating my prl first and to my surprise 3g is working a lot better than before. it's not 100% working every time but it does work most of the time tho and that's a big improvement. Thanks for all the tips guys!

I've had that happen a few times. Not sure if we are having the same problem, but usually making space on internal memory, SD card, clearing cache, and rebooting fixed it. If you have plenty of space on internal and on your SD card, I would just try clearing your cache.

nah that wasnt the issue, i googled the error i was getting, which said "not able to download to usb or sd card" then i found a site that told me to delete a certain file (forgot the name) and i did so and my problem is fixed.

Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.2 - 6/28/11

Hello,

I'm running V2.2.2 as of Tuesday. Thank you for fixing the bluetooth - much appreciated. I've noticed that between Reborn 2.1 and 2.2.2 that the battery life is severely worse. I have a brand new Optimus S as of two weeks (replaced under Sprint TEP) program - so can't blame it on the hardware.

Has there been an internal change that significantly increased power draw? Also worth noting: during my observation both 3G and Wifi are turned off, and only BT is left on at all times.

Cheers,

Matt

Open spare parts and tell me the two percentages in battery history

Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.2 - 6/28/11

Top two percentages since last unplugged are:

Running - 100%
Bluetooth On - 100%

There are four others:

Screen On - 3.7%
Phone on - 0.1%
Wifi On - 19.7
Wifi Running - 1.8%

I did notice this morning that I left Wifi on by accident, but it was not connected to a hotspot. I kept Wifi off most of yesterday and generally the battery usage appears to be the same rate.

Now from that screen open up the drop down menu and select cpu usage. Let me know what the top items are and their percentages. Reason why I'm having you take these steps is because it isn't the rom causing battery drain.

VPN using PPTP not working

Hi,

I am having issues using VPN (similar to someone who posted on page 74 of this thread).
The strange part is when I connect my laptop to my Optimus S using hotspot, I can log into my PPTP based VPN without an issues (Windows 7), but when I try to connect directly in Android, I am getting "Unable to connect" error.
Anyone else tried VPN on Reborn?

Here is the error from the server logs
Code:
CTRL: EOF or bad error reading ctrl packet length
CTRL: couldn't read packet header (exit)
CTRL: CTRL read failed

TIA

EV and overclock widget

flashed 2.2.2 over 2.2.1 just to keep current. Cleared cache and dalvik, but no factory reset. Noticed that the EV is back, rather than the 3G in the changelog from 2 versions back. Was that an oversight, similar to the "factory reset" showing back up? Just curious, more than anything else... Wasn't sure if I needed to go back and do a clean flash.

Couldn't help but notice that Nick7 was getting 41+ hours on his phone. I'm not getting nearly that, probably closer to 20 (which isn't that bad). Anyone know if Nick7 is running his with just the ROM's overclock? I'm running overclock widget, but still have the MAX set at 748. I just use the widget to bring the clock down to minimum when the screen is off. Am I hurting my battery performance in some way?

Much love to the devs. You make my Optimus hang with the Thunderbolts that I work with.

I have been noticing the same thing. (with 2.2.1 and 2.2.2) The first day, I got about the 40 hour usage, even with some pretty heavy Pandora use, but for the past week+ I usually have to charge every day in the early evening. I'm sure it must be something I am running, but I cannot figure out what. I have tried uninstalling my Fancy Widget, Business Calendar Widget, and Miren Browser (which for some reason was running all the time), but none of that seems to have helped. I am suspicious that it might be the "Email" app, which is syncing with my work Outlook account. I have it set to "Push (automatic)". Is that battery efficient?

I may try disconnecting from my outlook for a day or two and see if that is the problem...

Also, it seems my battery stays at around 100% until I first turn the screen on (even if it's a few hours after I unplugged it) and then it starts draining quickly. Is this just the percentage not updating?

There are a few of us that take advantage of VPN but it seems it is being overlooked.

To dev:
I included a logcat where I could see I was successfully connecting, but the OS stayed in the "waiting to connect" screen and never updated the result, like if it was waiting for a certain response and not getting it or not translating the response as a succesfull connect..

Please see attachment: log.txt

Line to look at:

F/mtpd ( 4273): Socket() Address family not supported by protocol

That makes good sense, but...lol...the percentages are so small that it doesn't give me any text. The color bar to represent the percentage graphically is so thin I can barely see it.

Top items are Android System, TasKiller, Swype, Facebook, and Calendar.

Now I'll tell you what...it's 11:51AM for me, and the phone has been unplugged for about 3 hours now with BT on and WiFi left on, and it's still 100%. So...oddly today the battery drain is now significantly less. I'm going to put 3G back on full time and see how it goes.

Reason I brought this up originally is working from 2.1, I noticed that I had BT, 3G, and used my phone for music (DoubleTwist), and I thought the battery life was spectacular. So...to see this sudden change triggered a warning for me.

Is it possible the phone hardware "warms up" to the newness of the ROM and then settles in?
