Little off topic I keep maxing out my internal storage, can someone link me to a way to re-size the partition?

I use app 2 sd, and according to TB have 47 apps installed. Also says the internal is only 256mb :( never realized how low it was.
thx

Hey Everyone,

Quick question:

It seems that many of us have been experiencing issues with the Android Market Place...either installing brand-new apps or installing updates.

For some, it's an issue with running out of memory.

For others, it seems to be an issue regarding running out of 'cache'.

I have already had my phone running with the Ext 2/4 partition tweak for quite some time now.

In fact...I created a 4GB partition on my 32GB SD Card...and it rocks!

I think lately however, I am beginning to experience the 'Cache' issue.

When trying to download updates...it says 'Insufficient Space'...even though I have over 3GBs of internal space available.

What is the best way to free up 'Cache'?

I have been rebooting into 'Recovery' and wiping both 'Cache' and 'Dalvik Cache'...however this doesn't always fix the problem.

Any ideas?

Thx!

BJ

You can try to use Titanium Backup to "clear up cache". It's in the menu after you open Titanium Backup, hit the menu key on your phone and tap "more"...

Also, you can uninstall the new market permanently by using Titanium Backup to "Freeze" the "market updater" app. Then go into the applications and click Market then "uninstall updates". Hope that helps!

The optimus S had no where near 3gb of internal storage. If you are using app2sd or something like that it doesn't move the entire app. Link2sd or data2sd will, most the time, move the entire app. You need to go into ->settings->SD card & phone storage settings-> and at the bottom "Internal phone storage" is the real free space you have on internal storage. When installing or updating apps they all go to internal storage then are moved from there. So if you haven't moved everything and are low on internal storage you can't update an already installed app.

Of course the LG Optimus S doesn't have over 3GBs of internal storage 'natively'...I performed the 'Data Ext 2' tweak (Partitioning SD Card, Symlinks, etc.).

Have you moved the dalvik-cache to your sd card?

Reborn ROM moves dalvik-cache to cache in order to free up space for apps. If you are using an ext partition and have lots of apps then the dalvik-cache will fill up your cache and cause the problems you are seeing. Check the link in my signature, it has instructions for moving dalvik-cache back to data so it's on your sd card.

THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was growing suspicious last night, when I would reboot into recovery and 'Wipe Cache' and also 'Wipe Dalvik-Cache'...then I would reboot...then I would try to download something from the Android Market Place and I would get the 'Insufficient Space' error. Then, from within Titanium Backup, When I would attempt to 'Wipe Dalvik-Cache...it would say that there was 1 file that was 4.32MBs. Once I would delete that and then try to run the Android Market...it would crash/force close on me.

Thanks a million!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm loving the rom, but i've having one problem. I used to be able to long press on a song and be able to set it as a ring tone. Now i can't. I'm missing something? Please help.

This probably has to do with the music player. Reborn now includes Google Music as the music player, this means it has some new features (like cloud sync) but may have lost some old features like setting the ringtone to a song easily. You can probably find an app that lets you do this easily, I'm using Go SMS and when I go to choose a ringtone in the settings menu I have the option to use Go SMS which lets me pick any of the songs on my phone.

OK, time for a stupid n00bie question from me; what's the largest capacity SD card the Optimus S can take? I'd like to get a bigger one eventually but I don't want to get one the phone can't use. Any ideas?

Nick, first I need to say that I love Reborn, I've tried others, but nothing has compared. Thank you for all of the work you've done.

If you decide to update or create a GB ROM, could you please consider adding an updater feature? CM7 and I believe g-rom have an updater built in to update the ROM from within Android. I could be wrong, but I would think that would make updating so much easier without having to wipe everything and start fresh. Not sure how difficult it would be to implement, but just an idea. Thanks!

Hey guys, sorry if this has been covered before (there are sooo many pages, lol), but I had a question regarding upgrading custom ROMs. I have been runnning ThundeROM for a while now and while I love it, I really want to install Reborn. So do I just stick the ROM on my SD card root and then flash like I did ThundeROM? I imagine the custom recovery I created when I originally installed ThundeROM is fine? Sorry, just don't want to screw it up as I'm still relatively new to flashing these things. Thanks again for any help and to you guys for your hard work in giving us rom options!

just copy Reborn Rom onto the root of your SD card, boot into recovery, make nandroid backup, wipe cache, dalvik cache and data, then flash reborn and reboot. U can also restore data from nandroid backup if u want to keep your settings, data,etc...then reboot. that's it. : )

I just installed Reborn and my god is this thing fast. I loved ThundeROM but I just found a new favorite for sure. Thanks again for all your hard work, guys! :)
