Yes this is an issue when fixing permissions in ROM manager. I have also verified this on a ROM other than RvU. No biggie ... use a different messenger app or don't run fix permissions.

With so much going on in the EVO dev world this stuff will get worked out sooner rather than later.

super users permissions is not working

it force closes everytime it is accessed. I installed titanium backup, but it can't access the SU request

ROM Backup not Working

I searched and this thread looks like the place to post my question but if not, I apologize. I cannot get ROM Manager to actually perform a backup. All it does is reboot the phone into recovery mode. Here is what I have tried so far with no luck of fixing it.

Check the box that says erase recovery before flashing in settings. Flashed alternate recovery and then flashed ClockworkMod Recovery. Then tried to perform a ROM backup and it still kicked me into recovery mode. (did this multiple times because I read people got it to work after 4 or 5 times)

After about 5 tries all it does is kick me into recovery mode with the exclamation point. I then have to run recovery-windows.bat to give me the option of rebooting my phone. Also, FYI, I am running the stock Supersonic_1.32.651.6_rooted file that flipzmode created with the updated .05 radio all with no visible problems.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to get ROM Manager to actually create a backup of my ROM? It is not a huge deal since I have a Nandroid backup but I feel ROM manager would be easier to use in the long run.

Hmmm. Well interesting. And you say your flashed custom recovery from within the clockwork app? If you press the up volume or power button at the black screen with the broken EVO does it give you a new menu? If not, its ok try this.

Download sompleroot2 from xda forums, or fin the link in one of the thread. "new way to root" I think. All it sounds like you have to do is run step 3. Let us know how that goes for you. After that you should update clockwork, and flash the newest recovery.

When I press the volume up or volume down button it does not give me a different menu. I will try the new way to root user interface thing sometime next week and report back. It's not a big deal, just a bit puzzling.

I flashed this Rom and my Gmail is not working. Says there is no connection. Any ideas??

Looking for people to beta test a few new things. Need to be running stable version from first post or ROM Manager, and able to manually boot to recovery in case of a boot loop.

People with with 4G service and using peep/friendstream are a big plus. Shout out and I'll PM a link and instructions.

Everything works fine here, and Keith reports no problems, but as a just-in-case hold off if you're uneasy about having a phone stuck in a boot loop.

i am down for testing the newer version. i have lots of backups and am not afraid of boot loops. also, finally got full root going last night after starting from scratch which i resorted to after i tried everything else everyone recommended.

also, i work a job that i can play with my phone all day on most days.

I would be willing to test.

I'm going to put it up here for an open beta test. Just had to make sure it boots on other phones and everything still works. This whole ROM is about keeping things working.

This is not a whole ROM.
You do NOT have to wipe.
This is something I call the Gumbo process (cause it's a mix of different things that work good together). People coming from a Hero will know what it is. For everyone else, it replaces your task killer, minfree killer, and any other app used to manage free RAM.

This is the first version for the Evo, and it still has the stock HTC kernel. I'm not going to build kernels without official source here. We just want everything to work. XDA is the place for experimental stuff, lots of guys over there who are very good at it. When kernel sources come, we can get all kinds of funky.

Download to SD card
Nandroid backup
reboot
uninstall or deactivate any task manager type apps you have
Flash from recovery or rom manager, no wipe.
First boot may take a while. The animation is only there temporary, I just wanted something different to look at during the buttload of times I rebooted while working on it. And it helps you know which version you're on during testing. Thanks evanscnce for it.

Just use your phone as you normally would. Holler if you see any difference (good or bad) while using it. To uninstall, just use the nandroid you make. So make one.

Don't bug Keith about this, hunt me down. I'm putting it here, because I'm only sure it works in RvU. And you guys need to test and let Keith know if it goes in or stays out.

I haven't try to update. I am going to wait until Keith updates the RvU Rom.
The update might break the root acess.
