[ROM] RvU 1.3.2 WORKING 4G!!! Sync Fixed / ROM Manager Support

So you are saying "nope" I can't use ROM Manager to do a backup instead of a nandroid backup? Are they not the same thing?

Same thing, but one won't read the others backups without some legwork. If you're going to want to continue to use ROM Manager, flash clockwork recovery at the last step instead of the generic recovery at XDA.

I appreciate your help. I don't want to screw anything up.
Here is what I think I can do:

I already have RvU 1.3.2 installed with ROM Manger working.

If I make a backup with ROM manager can I at that point skip right to "Part four - real root and recovery" of your tutorial that you just posted and go from there?

No problem man, we're here to help each other :)

You're correct -- you're good to go and can start at step 4 :thumbsup!

So just to confirm, do I use RvU 1.3.2 instead of PC36IMG.zip or do I run this after rooting, after recovery, after NAND backup?

EDIT:
Also, while rooting, (dumb question) must the phone be plugged in via USB to my PC? The tutorials don't generally mention that.

HELP!! So i flashed this ROM and i did wipe everything before doing it and i am having SD card issues. Like i just viewed some picks that are on my sd and now i get at ongoing notification that says this "blank SD card" "has unsupported file system" I have tried a different ROM and i have the same problem with it i have tried a different SD and have the same problem with it some times i will not get the notification but i will have a hard time reading the sd like in the music app it only plays the first 3 sec of a song then skips ahead and in my twitter app it cant always retrieve the profile pics that are stored on the sd

What do i DO?

I'm having the same exact issues. It can read my sdcard for a little bit then nothing. I can reboot the phone and it will work for awhile but then stops again. I have tried 3 different roms over the weekend to see if this was the cause. They all had the same issue with the sd card.

I used the sdformatting tool and did a full erase and reformat of the card on a windows box, Then had the evo reformat it again. But it's still doing the same thing. I'm going to order a new sd card tomorrow to see if it's an issue with just the sd card that came with the phone.

Thanks. BTW the link ftp://ftp.relentlessaddictions.com/PC36IMG.zip in your tutorial doesn't work for me.

I'll fix it. Thanks!

After you have RvU all set up and backed up through Rom Manager, follow step 4 in the link above. You can just keep your phone plugged in throughout the process.

What link? the FTP?

So do I do PC36IMG.zip, then recovery on PC, then RvU 1.3.2? Confused at the moment.

http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc...-your-htc-evo-install-clockwork-recovery.html

That link. It walks you through the process -

  • install the SDK
  • run the temp root and recovery
  • install a custom rooted rom, then back it up
  • real root and recovery, plus restoring your backup.

Read through it all, and then if there are parts you don;t understand post in that thread and someone will help ya out.

Another bug that probably only affects me. After installing the rvu on top of the rvu it would show my lock screen. One with the swipe pattern. I entered the pattern a few times to realize it didn't actually need the pattern. Any gesture would work. So I went to reset the swipe pattern and it acted like there was none there before. Kind of odd.

Kieth/gbhill:

Just to report in. I got it rooted last night, but when I flashed to the newest radio (the OTA update) my 4G does not connect. I am right across the bridge in Pennsauken, NJ where I usually get 4G but the icon just tries and tries to connect.

Prior to flashing though, it would connect but I got no internet access.

Just some input for you, or if there is a solution that would be great. Thanks!

Works perfectly for me! flashed it without a hitch, having issues retrieving apps though. have to manually search and install many of them.

and my manually, i mean pull them from appbrain XD
