[ROM] TrulyEpic MMS-Fix Test Build

This is a known problem. Some have reported being able to send over WiFi though.

Ahmgsk has an updated/fixed version ready to go, but is having internet problems. He said as soon as he can find a reliable connection he'll upload the update.

I think this is being discussed in the thread for this ROM over at PPC Geeks, but is anyone having issues sending Sprint MMS? I am unable to send one out on this ROM. I can if I send via email, but not through traditional phone-to-phone MMS. I believe others are having the same issue. Can anyone confirm? If this gets fixed, I'm hanging out with this ROM till final build comes out on Froyo, and will probably stick with same chef.

Thanks

So far i haven't had this problem. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I've been using Handcent as my default messenger.

OK. Once I d/l the zip file that I want (for example Swype), when I go into Clockwork & select the zip file to install. Will it overwrite the ROM (TrulyEpic), or is this just an add-on feature?

I don't want all of the Sprint crap that comes w/the phone w/the exceptionof Qik & Swype. I d/l Qik for the Market. Is there anyway to get a list of what apps are in the "Sprint Restore" zip file? I may just want a few apps.

I also noticed that DK28 update had a better version of Qik than the TrulyEpic ROM. Is there anyway to get THAT Qik app on this ROM? It looked more like the Qik for Evo App than the regular Qik app from the Market.

I use handcent as well, but this is not what pops up when you are sending a photo from gallery. Are you saying that when you are viewing a photo in gallery mode, click menu, and hit share, then send via MMS, you are able to do so? If so, you are the only person I've heard from so far that is able to do this and I think if you replicate what I just described, you'll likely have the same issue as the rest of us... please confirm...

Yes. I go into Gallery -> pick the photo -> Share -> Handcent -- I am then forwarded to the Handcent SMS, not Stock Messaging app.

I also attached a photo while in the Handcent messaging app and it worked fine.

OK, good to know it's an option... stock still needs to be fixed, but given everything else seems to work, I'm going to hang out and watch the upgrade path with this chef... first one I've used that nailed the trifecta of working GPS, working 4G, and none of those pesky 9016 notification texts for incoming voicemails...

It just adds it on.

How did you update to Froyo to see this version of Qik? And what is the version number of the Qik app in TrulyEpic?

I updated to Froyo via briefmobile link to DK28. Qik was installed (It looked like Qik for Evo app). When I went to Truly Epic, no Qik was installed. So I went to the market & installed Qik, whick is v3.765. I just uninstalled it and installed Qik for Evo, which is v4.60.2. I think that the only difference between the 2 is that Qik for Evo works on 2.2+ and Qik works on 2.1.

I believe this ROM is actually odexed, so none. Hopefully the developer will add a deodexed version in the future.

Can someone briefly explain what "odexed" and "deodexed" mean? I'm still learning the terminology of Android.
thanks.

WHAT IS AN ODEX FILE?

In Android file system, applications
come in packages with the extension .apk. These application packages
, or APKs contain certain .odex files whose supposed function is to save space. These ?odex? files are actually collections of parts of an application that are optimized before booting. Doing so speeds up the boot process, as it preloads part of an application. On the other hand, it also makes hacking those applications difficult because a part of the coding has already been extracted to another location before execution.

THEN COMES DEODEX

Deodexing is basically repackaging of these APKs in a certain way, such that they are reassembled into classes.dex files. By doing that, all pieces of an application package are put together back in one place, thus eliminating the worry of a modified APK conflicting with some separate odexed parts.

In summary, Deodexed ROMs (or APKs) have all their application packages put back together in one place, allowing for easy modification such as theming. Since no pieces of code are coming from any external location, custom ROMs or APKs are always deodexed to ensure integrity.

Hope this helps! I needed an explanation too and this helped clear things up a bit..

No problem, I guess I wasn't the only one looking for a few answers to the technical terms.

I may have been given some bad information. I just checked the XDA thread and the dev of this ROM has a mod to theme the notification bar/battery meter, so this ROM should be deodexed. Any theme should work on it. Perhaps someone running this ROM can confirm.

You are correct. I'm running a gingerbread theme on my ROM. Also have tried other themes and they have worked fine as well.
