[ROM][WIP][4.4.2] CyanogenMod 11 KitKat for Optimus S/V

Tried that apn, no dice.
ifconfig will maually set ip address for rmnet0 but it has no obvious effect. dhcp still doesn't work.
Try 'getprop dhcp.rmnet0.ipaddress' and see if it returns an ip address. My One V returned 21.28.22.183 (with data off) but the property is unset on my VM670.

Hmmm, I think what I'll do then is start poking through the source on it. Perhaps I can figure something out. I'm not working now and haven't had a good source project for quite some time.

Might as well just sync up the whole omniarmv6 project while you're at it. It's still rough but should come together quickly.

You know, I may just do that! I haven't done a great deal of dev work for Android, but I am an old school Slackware dog. Cooking up custom kernels and fixing fstab files is easy stuff for me. Just need some time to refamiliarize myself with it. It has been awhile....

Yeah if you're an old school linux guy you'll do fine. I started out on Slackware myself - it blew Windoze out of the water!

I got my phone activated so I won't have to ask you to try stuff from now on :)

Sorry for not being able to help right now. Had a hard time with concentration this last week. Health took a bad turn. I'll be away from computer for a week or more while they tray to conclusively figure out thru numerous series of tests why pancreas, liver, spleen, and gallbladder are messing up (possible pancreatic cancer after MRI results).
Will post back when discharged and back in front of computer.
Will still try to help those in need of tech support for their broken phones.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Andy, the wife and i will keep you in our prayers.
Stay positive and get well. :)

Couldn't flash squid's OS2SD CWM using TWRP 2.2.2.1, so I'll try flashing CWM_6.0.4.6-thunderc-skinbark to flash squid's then I'll be testing more. I feel like I'm jumping though more than a few hoops, but it's all part of the crackflashing addiction!

Well, it worked. I'll be playing with this for a bit, poking it with a sharp stick until it breaks. I'll keep everyone posted as to how it turns out. BTW, the temperature in the screenshot is accurate, so sitting inside playing with roms is about all I'll be doing!

I hear you, it's 7? in Pittsburgh, i played hooky from work today, too cold for me to be working outside. It didn't bother me when i was younger, but as i got older my body just can't handle the cold.

I just wish that i could help with this build in some way, but this stuff is way over my head. Plus ,this is the only phone we have, so i can't even play with the latest build, well anyway, nice work guys, i'll wait until some of the bugs are worked out.

Nice job guys . . almost you make me wish I was still on this device. Any of you in need of a test device? I have an optiS I would be willing to gift to the cause.

Quick update, so far it performs fairly well. No unexpected behavior for the most part. Runs a little laggy but that's because my SD card isn't really fast enough. One caveat, it doesn't remember WiFi passwords, so I need to re-enter it every time i connect to the access point.

Dave's not here, man!

Mine remembers wifi... weird.
Check 'adb shell mount' or 'mount' in terminal and see if /data is the right device.

Unrelated, I've pinned down a kernel bug, batt temp is off by a decimal place, reads 2.9C instead of 29C.
Makes my phone turn off instantly once it cools to subfreezing temps. Android powers it off as soon as booted until I warm it in my pocket.
I'll fix it and push the repair, and post the patch. It's only one line.

I've actually had this happen to me as well but didn't realize what it was.

It's been a while since I figured it out but I've been too lazy to fix it or mention it.
It'd be nice to be able to leave my phone out on my paper route though... So I'm repairing it now.

//edit: Fix is pushed to cm-11.0 branch.

Thekraven fixed data on cm11! His build is in the kitkat thread. I think I'll hold out though for the next os2sd build though

Alrighty, I got to test for a little while. OS2SD sounds like a great idea in theory.
It makes me very nervous though. Here's my thoughts: If you boink (got that from this thread) you ROM, it's fine, you just fall back on your recovery, if you boink your recovery, it's fine if you have a good ROM to fall back on. With both your recov flashing and ROM flashing, there's no fallback. It makes me nervous mostly because this is my only phone.

So anyway, I tried it, it failed. I was too freaked out by it failing to try to copy a log or anything, so it's really a fruitless test. But a test nonetheless. Maybe in a few years when I save up enough money to get another phone, I can really go nuts with my wife's and my OS's, but for now, it terrifies me.
I'm back on my old stable Slimbean 3.1.0. Nothing but a thing jelly bean. I did however, make a backup and started making tweaks trying to see what I can root delete out of Kraven's version of KK.

ONE LAST NOTE: I'll probably not be around much, I'm coming off break. Back to teaching and the daily grind. I'll be back in periodically to check progress. I'll see you guys in March (I graduate with my Master's).
Andy, get better man! I'll pray for you.

I'm sorta in the same boat as you, only phone we have right now, plus my sdcard isn't big enough. I loved Andy's Bean_Whiz Rom Mod but, same thing, a bigger sdcard is needed.
Guess i'll stick to MiRaGe Rom for now.

Correct, the os2sd thing is very experimental and definitely not for everyone. A proper kitkat install is going to require some kind of 'irregular' setup however, whether it's resizing the system partition, os2sd, int2ext, linking to cache or a combination of these methods. We're pushing the envelope and you should be pretty comfortable with phone mods (or brave!) if you're going to jump into this. It's a fun phone hacker's playground though!

I'm in this for the sure joy of doing what hasn't been done before, and I'm in for the long haul.
So, what block device should /data be mounting to? And if its wrong is fstab still in /etc?

VM670 on 4.4.2? Yes, indeed.
