Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/15/2011

It seems that I'm the only person having problems.. I flashed it, and ran it for about a week and EVERYTHING FC's. I actually stopped overclocking at one point to try and help that, but it had no affect. I ended up reverting to a backup of Reborn Rom just so I could have some stability. I don't know what the problem was, but CM7 will not run well on my particular phone.

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/15/2011

Were you running a CPU manager? Did you have the CPU setting in cyanogen mod set to 'set on Booth's?

EDIT: 500th post. Woot!

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/15/2011

Eh... I ran a new mdpi version of gapps on a fresh flash and it worked fine. Others have reported issues so I reverted to the old one...
Well right, I tried it once with Scott Pilgrim, and my phone froze. But what I'm saying is, is the reason we can't voicecall through Google Talk because we're running a March version of GAPPS? If so, I might give the new MDPI version of GAPPS a try. Would I have to just flash the new GAPPS after making a nandroid?

If you flash, it should overwrite.

Do we have the latest google talk? I wanted to call a buddy through gchat, but my screen didn't look like this chat. I wanted to know if this was because we're running a March release of GAPPS or something?

goo-inside.me - gapps downloads

20110613: This package is designed for Android 2.3.4, and will not work on 2.3.3. It contains all of the applications updated for 2.3.4, but does not include the new Google Talk with video chat due to there being no compatible library available for non-ARM7 and non-neon board devices, from Google or another OEM. This package should work on all 2.3.4 ROMs, and has the latest Android Market update in it, which includes in-app purchase support. This package is listed in the above table, ROM Manager, and latest/7/universal. It should be used with ROMs such as CyanogenMod 7.1.0 (though at the time that I'm updating this, 20110307 is still listed in the ROM Manager manifest for the CyanogenMod Nightlies).

When restoring apps from titanium backup did you use batch and include system data? That will try to add 2.2 froyo info and cause all kinds of fc issues

I have had a lot of luck with launcher pro. Ymmv. I know you were trying to stay with stock, but it is free in the market, so why not give it a test drive?

yeah im not as big of a fan of launcher pro as some of you. if i was to use different one it would be go launcher but i was just wondering if anyone else was having these problems. someone? anyone? adw crapping out? disappearing dock? changing icons? anyone?

Okay thanks so much! So since I have everything already flashed, should I just flash the new GAPPS zip right over? Or do I have to restart the entire Rom installation process?

As far as I've seen, you will have to redo the flashing process starting with the rom... correct me if I'm wrong!

Yes it will overwrite. You will need to sign into Google again though.

@basketthis: woops, looks like i got my question already answered in two previous posts. apparently, i should just flash over the new gapps with no problem, as it will overwrite the preexisting gapps. i'll make a nandroid anyways. thanks guys! i'll let you know how it goes

Oh cool. Lol. It wont let you download the new ones from the internet though. If it does work, you will see a notification when you open the market to the effect of "you will only have one time to download these apps etc...". You will see an option to select different stock apps including gmail, talk back, sound back, YouTube,etc... If you don't see that, you will need to start with a fresh wipe and install of the rom then gapps.
Please report back with your results so we all know whether it works. :)

Ok so I downloaded the "gapps-gb-20110613-signed" version. Now, in my previous experience, I had Scott pilgrim installed. When doing a fresh install of the latest Pilgrim, I also flashed the previously mentioned Gapps. On the first boot up screen "Touch to Begin", my phone froze and I couldn't do anything. When I did a clean flash, but this time using the GAPPS provided in the OP, everything worked fine. So it wasn't perfect.

But just 10 minutes ago, I flashed the latest provided GAPPS to the first CM7 build provided by Ath3nos (I didn't update to his latest build yet, oops.) All it did was overwrite the pre-existing GAPPS, and everything works fine on my phone. Nothing was erased. I opened up Mail, Market, and other apps to see that nothing was gone, and I didn't really have to re-sign in to much stuff. Although I can't exactly tell much of a difference from the old GAPPS.

So, in conclusion, the latest GAPPS provided in an earlier post here works for my phone, with the first build of Ath3no's CM7. I'm going to flash his latest build to see if everything's good also. To do that I just do a dirty flash by just flashing his new .zip and I'm done right?

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/15/2011

This is a great ROM. I have been looking for a good gingerbread ROM for my Optimus S for a while, and this works great for me. The customization options are incredible, the speed is great, and battery life is through the roof. Thank you!

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/15/2011

Could someone please confirm if the wired headset mic works on this ROM? Thanks.

I'm a bit late on this one, but I'm checking in to confirm my mms is broken as well. Do we know if a fix is possible?

The reason the new GAPPS didn't work with Zefies is that Zefies is Android version 2.3.3 and to run the new GAPPS it needs to be version 2.3.4, like this ROM is.

Thanks. Found the zip and flashed it. Mms is working great now. I don't know how I overlooked that post before.
