Root Failed - Need Help (Solved)

I tried rooting the phone but had problems. I was able to flash the CWM from Odin. But I could not get it to boot into recovery mode. I retried a few times and finally got into recovery mode. Then the battery fell out.

I put the battery back in and I get a screen that shows a symbol for a radio, an orange triangle , and a computer. (See attached picture)

I tried reflashing with ODIN, but it does not work.

I get the following:

same type of errors I have seen from Odin since I got the charge. Try again to flash just recovery or the EE2 last resort package.

Bad driver. Make sure you run it as admin, if that fails re-install odin. Also use odin 1.3 not the 1.8. To go into recovery pull battery, plug the phone in without the battery and hold volume down while pluging in the phone and reinsert battery.

Good News. I got things working. Here is what I did.

I could not get ODIN to flash CWM. I was able to eventually get ODIN to flash Altered Beast. I then used Altered Beast to flash the latest Gummy Charged as shown in the YouTube video.

I found that ODIN is indeed very finicky. After I got a FAIL I would have to exit ODIN, disconnect the Charge, wait 20 seconds. Then load ODIN, and begin the procedure again. After repeating this a bunch of times, I could flash Altered Beast (but not CWM).

The Charge runs so much faster with the Voodo Lagfix.

Go to roowiki from this site and down load the EE4 ODIN FILE.. ddont waste time going all the way back to ED2... ODIN the EE4 file and then get imnuts 1.9.1. gummy or whatever..theres only one choice.. from there you will have root plus CWM and everything working ready to flash (not odin) but DL roms to yer phone and flash whichever one suites you.. sounds complex but it isnt.. if i have helped click the thx button... >>Do Not Use Phone choice in ODIN, Always Use PDA..

So what is it exactly that you are trying to do? I believe papa54 was directing you to rootzwiki - another forum. Are you just trying to get back to stock EE4? Flash CWM? Root?

You could always check out this guide - it is geared towards flashing a particular custom ROM, but if you just want to get back to stock and flash CWM (and maybe root) then in particular the step 2 post and 1-3 of the step 3 post could be helpful.

As far as what you downloaded -
I agree with papa54 - don't use CI510_VZW_ED1_ALL_ONE-LTE-CP_REV03_user_CL986330.tar.md5 and instead use the file found here - the file should be named CI510_VZW_EE4_ALL_ONE-LTE-CP_REV03_user_CL1014954.tar.md5.7z (this is mentioned in the guide I pointed you to as well).
The GummyCharged_FE_1.9.1_FullOdin.tar.md5 you have will flash a custom ROM - this will also include root and CWM, and is built of the stock Froyo EE4 base - if that's what you are looking for, it's an easy solution (although it is now outdated, as there is a 2.0 version out - just not as an ODIN-compatible file).

Yes I was trying to get back to stock EE4 to save my phone, I emailed a friend of mine and he had me flash my phone with CWM - 0817_charge_recovery.tar.md5 using ODIN 1.3. Once I did that and then followed these instructions;

If that doesn't work, or if your phone is frozen:

1. Turn the power off. If your Samsung DROID Charge is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
2. Hold the Volume Down button
3. Press and release the Power button
4. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
5. Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
6. Press and release the Power button
7. Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO

As soon as the "Samsung" logo come on my phone still had my personal settings. At the moment I am leaving it alone.

My phone already has EE4 stock, my friend said maybe this is why it wouldn't take.

Hard to say exactly (at least to me - and I am far from an expert on such things). Simplest explanation - it could have been a bad download. Glad to hear you are back in some sort of functional state!

i first rooted my phone using ODIN and put a verson of Altered Beast on it. i have had it for a few months and it started to lag. so i was gonig to downoad a newer version of altered beast. i ried doing that and it failed and now i cant fix the problem. i have been at this for hours. i just can not figure this out. i need help. please.
