Root Found On Samsung Prevail!!

well if the replenish is anything like the prevail, we havent found a way to flash custom kernels. above and beyond that this phone has a .32 kernel (froyo) it will not work with gingerbread without some major hacking to get it working.

So how does one learn how to flash a custom kernel? I messed around last night for a while with ADB. Turns out "adb reboot bootloader" does not work on the replenish. I imagine this is something all you folks who know what you are doing tried a month ago. Does the fact that this does not work mean the boot loader is somehow locked? Is that also why you can't do the prevail? I imagine they are similar as they root the same.

As for the kernel, does gingerbread only work with newer kernels?

Where could I go to learn about the process you all use to create custom roms and figure out how to flash a phone? I'd love to learn and contribute. Worked as a firmware developer for 13 years, so coding is no mystery to me.

Tested, Working.
Tried with SD card inserted but dismounted, and that didn't work.
Then I removed the SD card physically and it worked perfect, Superuser Achieved!

are you sure you have the drivers installed? go to your device manger just to make sure and debugging has to be on in order for it to work. :-[

Forgot to get a screenshot, but this method worked for my Replenish as well!! It took me about 3 tries...the key was to run the batch file after rebooting my phone, just when the lock screen came up. The times I tried before that, I was getting errors because it wasn't able to create the directories it needed. Superuser and Busybox are now installed...time to get Netflix streaming working on my tiny screen!

how did u get it i keep getting errors but it says i should be rooted but im not please help me out

Thanks to all who worked on this exploit! Now if someone can whip up a kernel and some custom ROMs...:p

Didn't work on my Replenish.

Please tell me what you guys did to be able to root your Prevail (I have a Samsung Precedent. I'm told they are the same). I come up with the same script that you have posted here. Can't seem to get past it on either an XP or Vista computer. Any info would be appreciated.. :-)

This is now old and outdated. The One CLick app is not available anymore. Found one site that did but you would have to pay about 24 dollars for it!!! dang it! I will keep looking online! :-(
