Root or Not to Root?

I am reaching out to the experts here for advise, I am getting my Verizon G3 tomorrow and if towelroot works for it I am considering doing it to remove some of the bloatware.

Can I get some opinions on this please?

The only thing that has me thinking about not rooting my G3 is ART. Xposed Framwework is not currently compatible with ART so it will force your phone to use Dalvik.

This question always comes up, and cannot be answered by any of us. It all depends. First off, I would not within the first 14 days. Only because if you're unhappy, you can always take it back, but maybe not, if you're rooted. Now, they might not notice it's a rooted phone when you return it, but then again, they might.

If you're just rooting for bloatware, I can certainly understand, but is it a space issue? Because you can hide the bloatware now with the stock OS. You obviously cannot remove it, but you can hide it so you don't have to scroll through it. Also, do you plan on taking updates? If so, you can't remove the bloatware because most of the time the update won't install right without it. So what you do is freeze it, but it's still installed, so once again, I'd just hide it.

Anyway. That's my opinion. Will I root it? Probably, but only after the 14 days

Good points scottysize. Thank you, I just want to remove or freeze some items as I fear like Mcafee it will have a battery/performance hit?

One of the things that I truly appreciate on the G3 is the fact that LG has provided both a file manager and a gallery app which let a user move and,delete files on the microSD. My HTC M8 did not have a file explorer that was "trusted"by Android KitKat. You'd think that any manufacturer's on-board apps would be written to avoid this wretched feature of Kit Kat. Not so. That being said,the stock CAMERA app will not allow a recently-taken photo to be deleted from the viewer within the camera. It throws an error message saying that this is a KitKat bug and they (LG) cannot do anything about it . Which is just sloppy. The stock apps should all be coded to avoid this KitKat restriction on microsd use. Obviously they know about the issue before releasing the device.

It seems the majority of people are reporting performance gains with ART but some are reporting freezing and other little bugs. I would enable it and try it for a few days and see if it improves your performance. You can enable it by pressing the build number 7 times under the About phone.

I'm not sure I would want a phone without Titanium Backup installed and working. Definitely rooting.

My advice is to root.

Just not now.

Give the dev community some time to find surefire and safe ways to root/unroot. Give yourself some time to familiarize yourself with the phone and how it performs. Give yourself an idea of what you expect from root.

No need to rush it.

I disagree.

Im towelroot rooted with ART, but I rooted while on dalvik.

I think what you mean is xposed framework is not compatible with Art, and will only work in dalvik.
