I went through the steps to make a gold card and am heading to root my phone, but I wanted to see what the best way to proceed was. The one click is tempting but I see ton of complaints in the threads. I made the gold card already per the sticky and wanted tips on how to go, Should I follow the video tutorial? Also if I take the goldcard out of the phone do I need to redo it?

The complaints are 99.8% of people who don't care to read and just dive into the ball pit without checking how deep it really is. Get what I mean? :D Read the FAQs and all the relevant posts for the current build that is out. I believe Bubby put it out last weekend. Sunday I believe.

The video tutorial that someone made would be the best bet. Hard to go wrong following someones step by step ya know?

The gold card is only needed to obtain root. After that you can take it out and never use it again. I would hold onto it though. You never know ya know? His one click method has a gold card maker in it but I used the steps someone posted on here to make one. Not saying his doesn't work though. Most likely it does. If you get in a pinch, look for the answer in the FAQ first. I really can't stress that enough bud. Lots of people won't or didn't read it and they post anyway. Pisses people off ya know? I say ya know a lot. Can't you tell? :D

Anyway, good luck and enjoy the sweet ROMs that are out now.

I just rooted my Inspire today, following this video guide on YouTube. Followed the instructions and video to the word, and I had no problems!

I haven't been brave enough to try custom ROMs yet, I mostly just wanted to root for easier sideloading, removing bloatware, and a few handy root apps I wanted to add.

Is the rooting process supposed to fix the crippled HSUPA uploads? Because I'm still getting crap (~350 Kbps) on Speedtest.net.

I'm not sure if he tweaked HSUPA of not. I know people are in their ROMs. I got 4/1 out of mine the other day. Nothing spectacular but still better than stock.

goldcard

Ok so I rooted my friends HTC evo last night and during that process I created a goldcard, I'm assuming that the goldcard is specific to the microsd card so it should do fine right?

Also, the hsupa speeds are dependent on when ATT rolls out the 4g equipment in your area and then there's supposed to be a software update.. or at least that's what I've been told by my ATT rep (I work at radio shack and sell ATT,Sprint and T-Mobile).

I have a question here people. When I try to root my device I get to the bootloader screen and when it scans for the .zip file it say no image recognized? Any ideas? Im using the simple one click tool. My anti virus and firewall were both turned off.
