I'm curious as to how many people are planning to root the Nexus Prime. And more specifically, how soon are you planning to root it after buying it? And how easy or difficult do you think they total process will be on this device?

Re: Root timeline.

Not a big rush for me since it's stock. Im gonna root it and leave it be until cyanogen releases ICS.Nothing other than stock belongs on the nexus.

Re: Root timeline.

As long as it's stock and there's no bloat, I don't really even care about rooting. If Verizon decides they have to meddle with it...then as soon as a relatively stable root method is available.

Re: Root timeline.

Not going to be much point in rooting until we have something to flash, since there is no bloatware to remove. But as soon as custom ROMs/kernels are available, I'll be unlocked and rooted :)

Re: Root timeline.

Best part about owning a nexus, every other android user wants to have their phone look like yours.

Re: Root timeline.

Whenever there's a good root method. I figure it will get Cyanogenmod and custom kernels fairly quickly. Custom kernels on my DInc alone gave me at least a 50% increase in battery life, so a good ROM isn't really that important to me, at least while I get used to stock ICS.

Nexus phones are rootable by design - Google builds them that way. Unlock bootloader per Google's instructions, flash custom recovery/install superuser, and you have root access. No waiting for exploits with this phone :D

Re: Root timeline.

I you have never needed it, then you shouldn't root.

"rooting" gives more control over the phone and more apps availability.

My Nexus will be rooted within 30 seconds of removing it from the box.

A quick search of the market turned up 10 pages of root apps.

"more control" for most people means removing bloatware, over-clocking and personalizing their device (i.e. themeing).

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but all these questions have been answered many, many times. You will learn much more about root access if you do some researching. :D

I perfectly know what root can do but I ask to nexus user why using root since they don't need to remove bloatware, most nexus user don't theme the phone and don't need overclock.
