If you have unlimited data now, your tethering plan is unlimited as well.

Better to pay for the service, than run the risk of them charging you anyway when they find out.

I believe that adding tethering to your plan now changes it and you loose unlimited and go to 2gbs a month

That is incorrect. I am an indirect agent and i can tell you that i have had alot of people who have unlimited data w/unlimited tethering. It does not change your data plan when adding a feature.

Hey guys..quick questions.
I've never rooted a device before, but I was thinking about it now that i have an HP Touchpad and pre-ordered a Kindle Fire. If I root my device, and install a wireless tether program, will I be able to use my tablets on the go with 4g speeds?

Also, I have unlimited data with VZW, so I shouldnt have to worry about data usage, right?

Looks like you have to call in. The website no longer allows it, that I can see.

Slightly offtopic but fitting at this time and don't need to burn a whole thread on it. If I use my upgrade (coming from a fascinate) and upgrade to nexus, will i be able to keep my unlimited data?

Yes you should be able to keep unlimited data as long as you're coming from a smartphone (3G or 4G) that has it already.

I was hoping that I would not need to root this phone. Tethering might be the only reason I would. My rooted ROM's Fascinate does pretty well at times but has a few shortcomings. (GPS tho, is not one of them. )

To keep it legit, that's cause VZW wants you guys to come into a store and give a rep/store credit for a sale. Yes reps get paid on features like data and texting. It's a multiplier in the corp commission structure called sales dollars.

Re: wifi tether - Root timeline.

same for me. Any ideas on how soon that option may be available after the GN is out?

Probably immediately. But one thing to not is that the leaked GN manual for Verizon has information about tethering and mentions nothing of an additional plan being required. So there might be a small chance that it has the stock tethering app out of the box.
