progress bar says 20 minutes left....
I feel like the guy in the movie"dumb and dumber" when he's in the car pretending to run, so it feels like they're going faster.

i did the same thing -- rooted it, and thought i was good to go. didn't realize i hadn't really done anything (other than root it) until i re-ran the SMUpdated app again, was pretty obvious at that point.

How often do they update their roms (is that the correct term)? As I understand, relaunching the app will show us if there is a new release, can anyone confirm that?

yeah, i went to their website and they had an issue with their bandwidth and had to get a new provider. I have NO problem donating $5 to these guys for providing this sort of app. Hopefully they'll get more bandwidth.

Just completed DL and flashing the ROM -- ooo eee. this is excting.

It's attempting a nandroid backup. I've never installed any nandroid apps, is this gonna screw up?

Nope -- that's SPRecovery. Should be fine! Relax!

EDIT: regarding download speed... I used wifi at my house when I did it last night. Download only took 3-4min.

I'm connected via USB to my PC and the drivers aren't installed and the set up wizard failed -- so, I'm NOT connected -- we're still cool?

getting nervous here ... the device says "attempting nandoid backup" It's completely unresponsive and just sitting there -- it's been a few minutes-

it's definitely unresponsive while it's doing the backup... and the backup will definitely take a few minutes, but without seeing it i'm not sure i can diagnose.

i'm certainly no expert, just have the process fresh in my memory from doing it less than 12hrs ago.

I think it says something like "dumping ___.tar", it does that once or twice, then moves on from there.

i wasn't connected to anything when I did it.

I read somewhere that after rooting/updating folks have issue with the phone working right when connected via USB. Someone had posted on another forum that you have to install drivers right from Moto.

I just tried it here at work and mine connected/mounted with no problem, so maybe that was worked out in 2.0.3.

OK, so the nandroid backup does NOT require first doing anything with nandroid or installing any apps from nandroid and performing the nandroid back up does NOT require PC connectivity.. right?

Not as far as I know it doesn't. Like I said, I wasn't connected to anything when I did it.

The app doing the backup is "SPRecovery", it creates a nandroid backup.

Just to clarify -- you are using the SMUpdater app from the market to do all of this right? And you're attempting to flash to one of the roms listed in the app?

Yes, I'm using SMupdated and using the 2.03 rom. I went into SPRecovery thru the SMupdated app.

It's just a little sacry having the device read "attempting nandroid backup" with it being comletely unresonsive for over 10 minutes. _ it's not even going to sleep.

I'm scared to open keyboard and do a control-alt-delete or pull the battery or something drastic, but this appears to be stuck in some sort of loop.

Could be -- mine definitely did not take 10minutes to perform the backup. I'd hate to give you bad advice, as I am *not* an expert droid hacker, so take this with a grain of salt....

I believe it performs the backup before flashing the ROM... so if I were you, I'd try a reboot; you will probably find that nothing has changed. You could then give it another try.

If you're all freaked out by this, assuming that your phone reboots properly, you would have the opportunity to flash it back to stock.

If there is anyone out there reading this who is more sure about this than myself, please let us know what you think.

lol,i have a question about setcpu....i have it now and hit auto detect then went and set it to 800. is that all i do? or do i mess with the advanced stuff? there is no submit button? do i hit set on boot? do i need to refresh? do i set the cpu governor on demand? just curious....lol please fill me in.
