Rooting an Optimus S?

Hey all, new here, and I have firmware SW vz"D" (LS670VZD) i remember that vz"C" is an issue (LS670VZC) ..... however I am still having trouble managing this hellish run of JDK and android ROM systems for my computer, could someone possibly lay it out in layman's terms for me? Much appreciation given for any help... thanks.
