I am new to Android (1 month from an iPhone3G) and considering rooting my Inspire. Before I do however I was wondering what the effect will be on my Inspire now that I have downloaded the HTC software upgrade and am experiencing greater upload speeds.

Sorry if this is a dumb question or has been asked before but I could not find it anywhere. Thanks in advance for any insight you can give.

Its more than likely that the current radio would be replaced by the ROMs radio thus removing HSUPA, but it can be added again through roms.

I could be wrong, but, the restriction on upload speeds was with the stock Rom. I believe ATT had it crippled.
The way I understand it is some with custom roms were already getting 1000+ uploads before this update was released.

Of all the ROM's I have been on since February, all of them have had HSUPA enabled. The devs tinkered with the build.prop and rils and voila! We've been rocking the faster speeds for months. I would suggest mentioning the fact that you have upgraded with the latest OTA and see if it is compatible with the devs ROM. More than likely it is but it never hurts to ask.

rooting and using custom rom is like awesome.. u should do it.. its well worth the patience.. custom fw just makes all worth it..
