rooting is it worth it?

Probly gunna stay stock for a bit then grab a usb cable and give it a go need to do more reading have no idea what rom to use or if I wanna go custom etc

I'm not sure you know this or have one but any micro USB chord will work. These days a lot of electronics use them too. Cameras, mp3 players, external hard drives, etc..

You definitely need to root. I'm running Cyanogen at the moment, but might try Bugless Beast out. I'm overclocked at 800MHZ and life is good...

I was running Cyanogen at 800 also. I'm now rocking the Beast at 600 and I think it runs better.

yeah i know any micro will work but i don't think i have one sold the one for my storm with it should have kept it >_< didn't know the droid i bought didn't come with the oem charger

so i see alot recommending/running cyanogen mod or bugless beast what one should i run first?

I'd say try bugless first because it is very similar to stock. When you want to try cynogen just create a backup in rom manager so that if you don't like cynogen you can revert back and all ofvyour settings will be saved.

yeah i was watching a vid on cyanogen seen that it uses different recovery so if u go that route you cant just switch real easy between roms so might try some others first

I agree with Bitfix. Start with the Beast, tinker with it for a few days, back it up, try Cyan and go from there.

I have to tell you... just for $#!T$ and giggles I loaded up Cyanogen @ 600MHz (after backing up the beast of course) and after using Beast for about a week, Cyanogen seemed kinda laggy. I mean, it's a great rom and all, but I really feel you definitely need to over clock Cyanogen to at least a 1GHz kernel, whereas I am only running the Beast at 600.

You don't HAVE to overclock Cyanogen, IMO it runs better when you do. I'm just saying that after running Cyanogen for a while I'm really liking the Beast.

And to be honest overclocking a 550MHz processor to 600MHz scares me a WHOLE LOT LESS than 1GHz. It runs a heck of a lot cooler too.
