Rooting my Droid Charge

Been reading the forums and I'm still not sure what direction to go with rooting. I run low on memory quite often and notice a lot Verizon bloatware using up resources. I installed Go Launcher from the recommendation of this forum and it has helped a great deal over the other launchers. I would like to root but I'm a little nervous. I have an iMac at home and wanted to know if anyone can point me in the right direction. Thank you.
