So I've had my evo a few months now and decided to root it. I've been doing a lot of reading here and there's so much info to gather. I think i've narrowed which way to follow to root my phone but I just wanna make sure before going ahead.
My hardware is version 0003, my software is 3.70.651.1 and using android 2.2 froyo. Finally my hroot is 2.10.0001. What is the best way to go about rooting my phone? Thanks

wow!! thats a lot of info.. I was just gonna say take the unrevoked route. The only thing you need to do is install the drivers for your phone, which is two, one from android sync app. just install it and then uninstall it, the folder should be on your sd card and the drivers should still be in your pc when you connect it. Also, you will need to install android 1.1 driver for your phone to communicate with your pc while in recovery. Run unrevoked, connect your phone, and then follow the promts. Thats all.
The hardest part for me was knowing what drivers to install on my pc and after that everything was done by unrevoked.

Wrong, unrevoked does NOT work for the newer Hboots and is not on the list of advised things to do on here. Due to the fact that it isnt as easy to troubleshoot.

Please use the root guide that was suggested by vlbaston.

I used this guide earlier this evening and was able to root and rom my device in about 45 minutes. There are a lot of people available to help you with advice and if something goes wrong they are more than willing to help you recover.

igotsanevo, BigD5, thefredelement, Jerzyiroc, as well as many others volunteer their time to help!

Take advantage of their expertise and knowledge, but be sure to also thank them for their help.

well, obviously i didnt know whether he had the never version of the evo or not....

No problem man, I work on computers most of the day every day, and using unrevoked saved me a ton of labor. As stated in another thread, I am all for a program that does the leg work for me. I might have to go this route if my wife decides to upgrade to the evo next month.
