Rooting my GSIII with Rogers, good idea under warranty?

I'm thinking of rooti g my phone but am relatively new to Android having owned a CrackBerry... But can I root the phone & not void the warranty? I know with my BB's I was able to install whatever OS version I wanted & switch back if ever I had warranty issues to claim... Would that be the same with rooting thd Android
