Hey all. I'm not new to rooting, or to android. I basically try to follow the directions and learn as I go. I've been hesitant to do a permanent root on my EVO. I used z4 root to get temp root and removed all my bloat and made all the tweaks to get my battery life well beyond what I ever dreamed my EVO could get. I do like the way Myn's rom looks, and that requires root. Now, i've been reading up on this for days and I feel no closer to knowing the best and safest way to root. So, here is some questions if anyone can toss me some answers...

1. z4 root offers permanent root. Can I flash a rom on after that?

2. I read the rooting how to in this forum. It gets you through installing a recovery image. after that it says root using one of 3 methods. Simple root looks like a dud. Unrevoked3 looks better, but I just don't know. Any ideas? Unrevoked forever looks scary.

Ant thoughts would be appreciated.

You can't root with Z4 or unrevoked with hboot 2.10, you have to use the method on the sticky named root for newer hboots, you can read the PSA I wrote a few threads down for some more information.

Thanks Fred. I was just looking at that too and downloading the 400mb file in case I took the plunge.
