Rotary phone, dial up internet and the head phone jack

@miamiborn79 I also use the AKG headphones from the Note 9 with the cable, and it does sound better. Don't get me wrong, my Galaxy Buds are very good. But the cable is better.

Also, most headphones like the AKG NC60 and the Beats Solo Wireless 3 (both of which I own) are charged with micro-USB, and we've pretty much transitioned to USB-C, it's pretty easy to forget to charge them. Yet another reason for a headphone jack.

Regardless, it's not the biggest deal as long as dongles are cheap and ubiquitous. If you have one primary pair of wired headphones, just attach the dongle to that and you're good. Still, I'd totally pay an extra $20 for a Note 10+ with a headphone jack.

I use the headphone jack on my Note 9 up to 12 hours a day. I have quality speakers at home I plug into my phone, I use wired headphones when I run, and have expensive wired headphones. I also use the aux in my car, I don't have bluetooth in my car.

The removal of the headphone jack is a massive inconvenience to me and the only reason I can't make the Note 10 my daily phone.

Well, the thing with the jack is that it's basically universal. I mean, it was used on the Walkman back in the 70s. As such, a lot of headphones today are compatible with it, moreso than even Bluetooth. I probably use BT headphones 9 out of 10 times, and most of the time it's my Galaxy Buds. Still, I do have an old car from '07 that I drive sometimes, and I like being able to use the aux port. Technically I still can, I just have to leave a dongle in it. Thanks for including one in the box, Samsung...oh wait. While I rarely use the aux cable, I like having it as a backup option. And it's virtually everywhere. So unlike, say, an IR blaster, it's a component that gives me a heck of a lot more freedom.

I guess the question isn't one of obsolecence, but rather one of tradeoffs. What are we getting for the loss of the jack? Samsung says a bigger battery. But could they have given us the battery by increasing the thickness of the phone by a mm or so? Doing so wouldn't make the Note 10+ any harder to put in our pockets, and I don't think it would affect your ability to hold it either unless you have very small hands. I think this would have been a better route than taking away the jack.
I agree with you. It's all about choices.

What is all the fuss on no headphone jack. Headphone jacks are going away, time to make adjustments. I don't experience lag with my Bluetooth headsets, weird some are. Any way, why the craziness over this one thing. There are so many options that this should be the least of your worries.

It's just a different type of connection isn't it, no different then going from micro USB to type C charging.

Look at all the options, and there are tons more.

Who’d thought Apple would of caused all of this problem two years ago. Hehe

At least you all are not fighting about Samsung removing the 3.5”
Floppy drive from the Note 10+. :D

Do these items plug into the charging port? And if so, thats well and good until you have to charge your phone.

It personally doesn't bother me that its not on the note +, my car has Bluetooth and I use that to talk etc.
Other times I use Bluetooth wireless earbuds.
But I can see where if you use it, it would be a loss.

You pretty much answered your own question. You may like your sound and don't experience lag with your particular setup, but as you can see, it's not fully functional across the board like a dedicated headphone jack is. It's also preferable to just have it included within the body of the phone than to have to buy extra dongles or transmitters.

Bluetooth has issues. Dedicated jacks are plug and play simplicity. Why talk down on people that want that simplicity and quality?

I'm not talking down, it's a simple question in plain text with no emojis. Let me explain it more... You need a 3.5 cable to plug into your car radio now. Get a 4 foot cable as I showed that connects to your car with a type C connector on one end... Same thing. Headsets now have the C connectors, same thing. The dongle, yes I can agree that's kind of a pain, but over time will become non existent just like the micro USB to type C adapters are doing now, and people were complaining about that back then also, now it's preferred. I just think people are making this to big of an issue, the option to plug your phone in is still there.

It is a valid complaint that it does kill the option to charge while listening to music without buying the dongle that charges and plays music at the same time. That's the only issue I see, just another thing to have in car, but it's small, can be done, but instead of 2 things attached to your phone directly, you will only have 1.

Sorry you took this wrong, it's just how I see it, I don't use Emoji's all the time, text is just text without expression, the emotion usually comes from the one reading it.

That's the first thing that actually makes sense when discussing charging and playing in the car at the same time. It's a single but only one thing is plugged in. There were times where I had a cord coming out of the top and bottom of the phone at the same time. Leaving a dongle in the car would fix that. I still prefer the option though.Screenshot_20190818-100735.jpeg

Options are always good, I agree. I just see there are other ways also. IMO, it's definitely not the deciding factor on this phone.

Guys, remember that Samsung once took away the micro SD card slot, only to bring it back. If reviewers object to this enough, it's possible we may get the headphone jack back in a later iteration of the S or Note series.

You never know. I don't care either way. It could be next year's selling point to sell new phones

To add to the complexity of Bluetooth, keep in mind that wifi signals can disrupt it. If you are in an area that has a large number of wifi routers, Bluteooth may be difficult to use.

Are there better bluetooth devices that would help in these cases? Or phones?

Heck, Bluetooth has trouble just transmitting through the human body (due to the amount of water in us from what I've read). My headset is barely usable if my phone is in my pocket.

Weird. I can have my phone in my pocket or across the room / house and Bluetooth keeps chugging along.

I'll admit, I'm not the greatest to turn to for advice on this, but as far as I understand, no. The interference is still an issue. The radio quality might help a little, but I'm not sure it will be by that much.

It's likely an antenna placement issue. In my case, turning the headset around is uncomfortable to wear. I also can't swap pockets with my phone due to my other pocket having my keys in it. Like you, it does work at longer distances. It's only when trying to connect across my body that causes the issue. Like I said, it seems to be due to the make up of our bodies specifically.
