I couldn't agree with you more

They need to bust out the street-view trucks and drive around handing out free frozen yogurt to everyone on this hot summer day.![]()
what do you mean by "checkin"? is it settings > about phone > system updates?
Sorry for the stupid question lol
Hehe. Except I had to manually update mine whereas you got an OTA
Thank ya. But yeah, once again, my full apologies if I came off rude previously. No one at all had ever seen a proven case until you proved us all wrong. So of course, we were all skeptics.
Thanks again. Froyo celebratory beers to both of us!
I found answer on another site:
================
Go to the phone dialer and follow the directions bellow. You should get the ota.
Go to the dialer in your phone and enter in the code *#*#CHECKIN#*#*, it should come out *#*#2432546#*#*.
Do NOT press "call" after entering *#*#CHECKIN#*#*, just watch the notification area for a prompt that you are checked in.
Then go to the usual area to check for software updates and, as long as the rolling update/upgrade has started, it will come to your device.
================
I did it and it immediately prompted me that the update was available. Doing it now.
Yep! Exactly. Mine was a completely stock N1 as well (locked bootloader, never hacked, EPE54B) and is now on FRF85B. Just rename to update.zip, put on root of SD, and run from recovery.![]()
I did this and all I get is a triangle with an exclamation mark and a little green Andy. Did I do something wrong?
-------------
Crap.
Checkin was success, Check for updates still screams LOSER at me (your system is up to date).
Guess we have to wait our turn at the trough.
i made this mistake.I cant get the the thing to work manually. I reformatted another SD card that I had so the only thing on the card was the update.zip file. I followed the steps:
- Volume down + Power
- Volume down to "Recovery" - hit Power button
- Hit Power button + Volume up after the static X and when Andy pops up with the ! & yellow triangle sign
So I get to the "Android system recovery (2a)" screen and proceed to "Apply sdcard:update.zip" but I get back:
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Not sure what the deal is. I did note that when I view the properties of the file using Astro viewer it says the permissions are only read/write and nothing about executable (if that's even an option).
Any tips?
i made this mistake.
Make sure you don't name the file update.zip.zip
No worries. Water under the bridge.
I just did a "checkin", which I didn't even know about until now and it immediately notified me that the update was available.
ah, so I guess the updates are rolling out for AT&T stock phones, but not for TMO stock phones just yet
I tried the CHECKIN trick, and it said "Checkin success" but no system update available yet
so I found a link for a repacked FRF85 for rooted nexus's and it says everything went fine in the recovery screen but when I reboot it, it still shows FRF83?!
I also took the battery out and restarted it after putting it back in. ???
